what is the most unstoppable heavyweight performance you have ever seen, im sitting here thinking and i cant pick one, i would love to know what you think.
When George Foreman took out Joe Frazier, the planet Earth decided he was unstoppable. No great, respected heavyweight champion has EVER been blown out like that. Foreman looked like a giant among men, and given the respect and awe Frazier had accumulated after withstanding the FOTC, he was, overnight, called a bigger puncher than the great Joe Louis. Talk about a legend making performance.
How about Liston taking out Patterson? How about Tyson taking out Spinks? How about Schulz taking out Botha?
I agree with this. Foreman-Frazier was harsh but Foreman was the bigger man. Here, Dempsey was the smaller man and completely brutalized Willard. Anyone have a picture of Willard's face after the fight?
I consider the heavyweight division to have begun with Liston beating Patterson. Before that was merely prehistory.
Tyson vs Spinks for me. Not in historical greatness. If a computer was gonna pick a random heavyweight opponent and I had to pick a fighter to represent my interests, and my life is on the line. I want that version of Tyson.
