It's a bad habit to rely on a game-plan when it doesn't always work for you. I understand the fundamentals of counter-punching, and Floyd does it extremely well; I watch boxing, I've boxed. I understand what Floyd does when he goes backwards, probably better than you do. If you rely on fighting in straight lines and give up the center, you often lose control and are more vulnerable, and it's a bad habit. Hence DLH made him look bad and won consecutive rounds, hence Judah caught him with lefts within the first 5 rounds of the fight consistently and made him touch the canvas.

Floyd throwing check hooks does not mean he moves laterally and controls the pace as well as he should, or as well as Hopkins does. So I stand by my pick of Hopkins as most versatile since 1990, and you can talk nonsense elsewhere while trying to defend your idol, since it's almost all you seem to do on this forum.

Floyd because he can adjust against B-grade fighters and A grade fighters that are past their prime.

He fights in the pocket against a bigger man and he fights from distance showing his footwork and moving laterally ;)

edit: Floyd was so more agile back then and quicker. There's no way he's still in his prime

Besides the 1st Castillo fight. When has any boxer taken advantage of Floyd against the ropes. i.e being able to land consistent shots to his body and head.
Oscar was hitting nothing but arms and shoulders and probably led to him tiring down the stretch and dropping the last 4 rounds.

Judah caught Floyd off balance with a check hook while he was throwing coming forward, not backing up.

If Floyd doesnt control the pace then why does every opponent he fights activity drop by half of what they usually throw?

Hatton threw 741 punches vs Collazo. Hatton threw 372 punches vs Mayweather. His activity level was cut in half.

How is that not controlling the pace? Pretty much every opponent Mayweather fights activity is cut down substantially its clear that besides the last half of the Castillo fight, Mayweather has controlled the pace of every opponent he's fought.

So seriously what is this lateral bull****. YOu do know you can control the pace of the fight without constantly moving dont you? Even though you seem utterly oblivious to Floyds lateral movement against the likes of Corrales, Castillo, Baldomir and Hatton.

There's an argument that Hopkins is more versatile then Floyd. Its certainly credibly. Your argument sucks though per usual.

Nucca dont watch boxing for real. Dumbass told me Ward was the favorite at the start of the Super Six. Probably only follows like a couple boxers.

Dude said Judah won 4 of the first 6. And DLH won 5 of the first 6. :rofl

 I do like some of his analyses though and he puts a lot of effort into them, but I think he lets biased affect him too much sometimes. I can tell he doesn't really favor Floyd that much

The reason I say b-hop is because he doesn't necessarily adapt, he just uses the rules to his advantage. To where Floyd will create a whole different game plan in between rounds

Whitaker could fight at the close distance in a level Floyd can´t. Without a doubt.
Whitaker had a better jab without a doubt (man, that fight against Haugen is awesome in that espect!!)
Whitaker is one of the best body punchers I ever saw.....Floyd isn´t.
Whitaker was a offensive force. Without too much power, but his combinations are simply amazing......

I respect opinions, but c´mon......it´s not Mayweather fellas.....
Floyd is actually one of the less versatile fighters in that list....

I just re-watched the fight against Baldomir today.....and definitely you are right, there is a difference between that Floyd to this Floyd from yesterday.....

    Chavez was more versatile IMO......
Chavez wasn´t only a offensive coming forward fighter.......just watch the fight against Ramirez and you can see a counter-puncher guy setting traps for the opponent....among other examples during his career......
