    #1 Tony Ayala, Jr.

Here's a guy who repeatedly chose getting butt raped in prison over riches and fame.

There are a lot of fighters that can be on this list, but I think that most notable should be Tyson...After his dominance in the late 80's he goes to prison and his career goes down hill afterwards

Thats just poor. No wonder you have to explain this more than once.

    1) Prematurely? You must have been on the phone, while Judah, did the chicken dance.

    2) The first one, was poor acting skills from Zab, the second was legit lowblow from Cotto, but more due to sloppy sense of distance. But stop right there - he got up and continued to fight his best. Cotto owned his ass. No excuses.

    Jose Luis Lopez.

    Had a granite chin.
    Dynamite in his fists.
Lazy or being disinterested was a career killer!!!!!!!!!

It's arguable that Jones Jr is the most naturally talented fighter ever, but he is no where near the best fighter ever based on his resume and achievments. The ceiling on his talent is much higher than the plateau that he reached. It's more of an indication of his tremendous talent level than an indictment on his career. He is not a waste of talent in general. Nor is Tyson. But they could have been the best ever, a goal that was within reach talent wise, but escaped their grasp. My comparison was obviously relative.

BOWE could of been one of the best HW ever! BOOM! He is considered a top 10 and he never really worked hard at it. Imagine if he really worked at it and didnt eat so much...

    1. Heavyweight version of James Toney
    2. David Tua
    3. Riddick Bowe
    4. Zab Judah
    5. Shannon Briggs
*I think it is indicative of the times that 4 of my top 5 are heavyweights (and even moreso that 3 of them are from Brooklyn - and that's without including Tyson)

imo, i don't think you can say zab is wasted talent. he didn't waste his talent by being lazy or taking drugs or comitting crimes. he just lost a few big fights, but he keeps fighting (even ttaking the biggest challenges), and has accomplished a lot even tho he shows at times that he has awesome talent.

IMO guys whom have appeared to have "wasted" talent are guys like Ike, Tyson (even tho he did accomplish a lot), leon spinks, bowe (to a degree but he might have been damaged goods early), naz (by retiring so early), ayala, and more.
