What fighters cut such ridiculous amounts of weight that it was detrimental to their health, to the point where they were eventually walking corpses in the ring?

Not excusing a thing with the Leonard rematch, but cutting 50 pounds couldn't have been good for Duran in the least. That's insane for him to balloon to 200 pounds or so.

Fernando Varrgas did the same ****. He's got to be 230 pounds at least now.

Oscar De La Hoya against Pacquiao. That was not comfortable territory for him after so many years of fighting above welter.

Crawford Ashley was a massive LHW who dropped down to SMW with fight Nunn. 163 pounds at that, for some idiotic reason. He literally looked ghostly pale (Ashley was african american) Some people have said he looked like a ****ing alien. I have zero idea why he didn't come in at 168.

Johnny Owen looked like an accident waiting to happen. And it did.

He was more or less built like that, I doubt he was cutting insane amounts of weight. More of a genetic thing then a fighter boiling down.

Erik Morales was a dead man walking later on as well.

Jorge Arce passed out at weigh ins. Not suprising considering he was gaining nearly 20 pounds back after weighing in at 108 against Cob Castro. Insane.

James Toney somewhat infamously against Jones is a standout.

Sot Chitalda walked around at 130ish; yet boiled himself down to as low as 108lbs.

The 'ol Mongoose had more and more :-( trouble getting down to 175 as his career went on

    Butterbean, Chris Arreola...

No seriously, I think Miguel Cotto was really weight drained at 140, he was dropped lot of times and never fell at 147 until Margarito. Making the weight had an impact on his chin.

James Toney and Jorge Paez Sr.

These two epitomized detrimental weight draining.

No argument about his skinny body. But apparently it was a combination of thin skull bones and too much courage that bought him undone against Pintor.

James Toney against Dave Tiberi, Toney was 185 3 weeks before the fight and he had to take diuretics,Starve himself and train he was cramping up in the fight thats how bad it was.His worst performance and thats the reason why.

It was interesting to hear Freddie Roach say that in the Pacquiaou fight he could see the blood coming out of the fresh needle marks in Oscars arms at the center of the ring, because they had just rehydrated him with IV's before he left the dressing room. Thats insane.

Eddie MM Gregory having to shed 27 pounds in two months, not to mention 3 pounds on the last day against Spinks certainly didn't help matters. I remember we remarked how ''weird'' he looked when he climbed thru the ropes that afternoon...

he didnt rehydrate that much tho form memory. george was just as heavy as him in the ring.

simon brown used to a thin welter then all of a sudden he couldnt make wiegh and had to drain and drain more and more. he didnt look that out of shape at 174.

chris eubank:dead walked at 180 - 190. used to eat and drink NOTHING for days. living off supplements and abit of water so he could swallow it.. rosenthal (a tool as he is) said he almost dropped 2 stone in less than a week. also this isnt like vargas or morales where they just blew up and fattend up. eubank was built like a tank normally. look at his fight with thompson. he is just as big as a very solid cruiserwieght.

when i did a course in school on journalism in sports. i heard that michael watson used to really push the boundary's.
