many people seem to have a different opinions on the correct movements to make in order to slip and bob, especially bobbing. I was taught that the correct way to bob was to keep the head stationary on the plane of the shoulders but to bend the legs and rotate the torso, and that just moving the head to avoid a punch was incorrect as it could put you off balance and didn't give you any real advantage in counter-punching. However I often hear people commenting on this dude's good 'head movement' etc., so whats up with this? whats the correct way to avoid a punch, whether bobbing or weaving? is it in the legs, the hips, the torso, the shoulders, the head?

Your head should move with regard to its position. But your neck should not actually move. Your upper body should control the movement.
