moving back at an angle

    how the hell do you move back at an angle to the left in an orthodox stance?

    Simply by pushing off of the front/lead foot while steering/manovering to the desired position with the back foot

    yah i no but like if im going right i step with my rigth foot back and ouy and then i rbing the frot foot back and to the right. how to do it to go left?

    stand up,
    look at your feet,
    lift your right foot,
    push with your left foot,
    move your right foot back and to the left and let your right foot fall at it's new angle,
    lets say 90 degrees clockwise from its original angle,
    now move your left foot back to the same relative position to your right foot that it was before you moved back and left in the first place

    guarunteed angular movement to the back and left

    Although you step back with the right foot and then step to the right, you would slide the front-left foot directly to the desired position rather than pulling it back and then sliding it right. It gets you in position one step faster and keeps you from being squared up momentarily like Brendan Ingle fighters.

    You could also, with the right foot, step back and to the right in one step. In other words, step back at an angle to the right with the front foot also following in the same direction so you end up in position facing your opponent.

    This would put you in a position where your feet are crossed which is a no-no.

    There are two ways in which you can move back and to the left, but they take two moves.

    The first is to step straight back and then bring the left foot back and to the left, and then pivot.

    The other is to pivot to the left first and then step back at the new angle.
