Train hard and smart, and whatever weight you are. Fight at that weight, too many boxers live in the old days. It has been proven that when you eat healthy and train hard you will be stronger, look at Miguel Cotto. Why put your body under stress for that extra weight loss, it is stupid. Also your weight lifting try to train more sport specific, you want to be doing exercises i call them.. "Bad man lifts" Power Cleans......"Bad Man lift" Bench Press, with dumbbells.. Military Press Squat...."Bad Man lift" Dumbbell Rows Also core..on decline bench. Russian Twist And sit ups Thats all your need.
Cheers, sounds like decent advice, so many people give so many different answers when it comes to weights and boxing. I am learning techniques for lifts like power cleans and clean and jerk. My boxing coach says they are the best for boxing as they are specific and don't really cause you to gain muscle mass.
Power Cleans..are easy to learn, i would stay away from Clean and Jerk. Like Bernard Hopkins says in the video below we have things these days that guys like Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali never had. Take advantage of everything and become a more deadly "Not machine" but tank. You only need to be going the gym 2 times aweek, and outside of that "Good old" callisthenics are very good, and you can do that in your normal training in the gym. Callisthenis have a place, and are the base for every great athlete. [yt]eQzAddqeH_A[/yt]
