Not true at all, most of us like Ricky and it was one of my fav results of last year.

However, from what I've seen I think Foster Jr would have an excellent chance.

Seriously mate Martinez is the hardest punching SFW i have ever seen all the UK sfw would have been stopped by him,And Ricky would stand them all on there heads.

Yeah, well he ain't the hardest puncher super feather I've ever seen. And who has Ricky ever stood on there head? I really like Ricky, but Billy, he's not a big puncher.

And he had 'Wobbly' Martinez all over the shop on several occasions.

Martinez beat Cook, who was not as good as Ricky IMO. Cook beat Arthur. That title isn't worth **** all, look at the lineage of it as of late

Ricky is a top 5 130lber, but that's due to the state of the division. I really like him, he's a good lad, a hard worker and fairly skilled but he hasn't really accomplished much in the grand scheme of things, apart from beating another guy only in the top 5 due to the division being ****ing awful.

It's nothing to do with Burns being Scottish. We could say if Burns wasn't your fighter your opinion would be different. Discrediting people in that way is weak.

Burns is just a basic fighter in the grand scheme of things. If you look at the top fighters in the world, he doesn't compare. He's good at what he does, he has a nice jab, a good right hand, useful uppercuts, good grit and determination, but his power his mediocre, so is his speed, he's really easy to hit. He's fortunate to be in an awful division and he's also fortunate people overrated Martinez which has inflated Burns' standing over and above where he actually is and I expect that will be evident shortly when he stops fighting people like Laryea.

I was puzzled by this too, and the fact that they even felt the need to make an poll about it on the Sky website. The fact that Ricky has beaten very convincingly the guy who was considered the best in the division should make it so he isn't even put in the same group as these other guys.

Also Ricky would outbox foster pretty easily IMO. Foster lost to a barely alive version of Alex Arthur and just beat a 40 year old very European level fighter.

According to Barry McGuigan (today's Daily Mirror) Burns should wait for Nonito Donaire to move up to SFW so that he can land a big money fight against the Filipino sensation.....

    Seriously?:think

    WTF?:huh

Pass me over a little of that stuff your smoking, Barry.:spliff

One of the weirdest things I've ever read.:-(

Oh, and the SFW division is the worst division in boxing.

I'd say Burns is the best in Britain, but you can't use the old "he's a world champion, so of course he's the best in his country" argument, because the SFW division at world level is really that bad.

not at all! my parents are scottish....:patsch ricky did not beat the number 1 sfw in reality, he exposed martinez for being the crude brawler with NO ABILITY that he is! ricky seems like a good lad but uchiyama would batter him imo, ricky just isn't as good as you think he is, he isn't quick for the division, has no power, leaves his chin in the air, and his technique isn't good, he is strong and has a good jab and workrate, bang anthony crolla in there with him and he'd beat ricky

Agree im afraid, this is basically true^^

Can you imagine Burns fighting someone like Jorge Linares? the gap in talent is huge.

if you want to start comparing previous opponents we could talk about how carl johanneson battered ricky burns for 12 rounds (before getting brutally knocked out by the "European level" fighter foster recently stopped).

anyway, both fighters have learned a lot from their defeats, and although i think burns would have the edge if they met, it would be a very tough fight.
