    I don't think Roy will win a legit CW title. But even if he did, it wouldn't enhance Joe's resume or give him a big payday.

    Who would want to see Roy at 47 (next year) fight Joe at 43/44?

    If their 2008 fight had been more competitive, and Joe hadn't have opened up scar tissue around Roy's eye and made him look a mess, they may have had a rematch. The initial plan was to have two fights. One in the States and one in the U.K. But it was pointless. Roy knew at that stage that he didn't have enough in the tank, and Joe had already got Roy's name on his resume to massage his ego. The only other way it could have happened, is if Joe had lost a close fight. Because he would never have retired on a loss.

    A fight at this stage, would be more pointless than a 2009 rematch.

    I figured you knew better than to ask existential questions on esb............................................................................

    Either way, info isn't really lost in the information age, so barring a zombie apocolypse(if there was, would they orchestrate Zombie Fights?), I think the info stays relevant and maintain a degree of perspective, whether they be watching old, scratchy, cheap blu rays of the old timers on their holodecks, or what not.

    I'm confident should des3999 log on 100 years from now and dig up old threads on the subject, he'll know what's what.

    The guy has been out of the ring for what? 7 years? Longer than Jeffries was against Johnson, and we all know how well that turned out.

    Then again, it might be a Jeff Fenech type comeback, who after 8 years out of the ring he beat Azumah Nelson....but Nelson also had been out of the ring for 8 years.

    I don't see anything beneficial with respect to a Calzaghe comeback.

    Nobody mentioned is Johnson, though.

    Ward is the most dangerous and even there, if he put in a full camp with Enzo and got quality sparring who's to say it would be all that different from how it might've gone 6-7 years ago? Not like Calzaghe took a lot of punishment in his career. He ought to still he fresh enough to pick up more or less where he left off (provided Joe's been keeping the nose candy to a minimum and maintaining some degree of fitness to ease his transition back into prepping for 12 rounds of high-volume work)
