Feedback on what I do good and bad would be nice.

Y'all gave some good feedback in the last couple videos I posted.

Do you guys think I should try my hand at some amateur fights? I want to be successful if I do so give it to me straight up. Thank you all in advance.

It's hard to see anything with that poor lighting ! You seem to flare your elbow when you jab and your arm punching!

you are just standing infront of that heavy bag, no movement, no defense.. punching heavy bag is way different then amateur fight, so asking people if you should try amateur makes no sense. rather put some sparring session video if you want advice on your boxing.

Do I arm punch with all of my punches or just the jab? Now that you mention it, I do see my jab flare. Good Call.

How do you work on defense on the bag?

just like in the shadow box or sparring. you can do slipping, ducking, get out of the range, mix all defense moves with punches. Its important to do defense on the bag so you can do it in sparring and fight automatically.

Of course, there is no only one way to do the bag, but if you want to show me your boxing knowledge while punching a bag, you got to do all boxing elements, not just punching because 95% of your punches probably wouldnt pass in a fight and you would be gassed very soon with so little movement you have.

Yes you seem to arm punch with all your punches! your straight right seems to be your best punch but both your hooks are weak. You can see it when you throw your combos! Remember arms don't turn body, body rotates your arms around! Using your hips and transferring weight distribution between lead and rear hip are key ! If u do this correctly your head will move with the hips so it's not stationary when throwing your shots!

Alright, tonight if I can get the right lighting I'll post another video to this thread showing defense and better movement in order for you guys to have a better representation to judge.

Here's a new video I took an hour or 2 ago. I tied 80lbs worth of weights to the bottom of the bag in order for it not to move around because there is a bar on the ground attached to the stand I use to hold up the bag which prevents be from moving forward. This is one of the reasons I don't have much movement going on. Also, there is a bench press to my left along with dozens of boxes of things directly behind me and to my other side because a relative recently passed away and we are in the process of getting a storage unit.

I try to make up for the lack of movement with volume of hard punches. I know that in an amateur bout I won't be throwing 140 punches per round which is what I average on most of my workouts.

Things I'm looking for your opinion on in this video are do I have pop in punches? Am I doing any better with not arm punching? Speed? The little defense I worked on if I do that more? Balance?

    • You're not helping yourself with that poor lighting.
    • To be honest I didn't see any improvement from yesterday but you need to give it time.
    • I don't think your punches have snap because you're still arm punching.
    • You need to sit down on your punches more and use your hips to rotate your body around. You use your arms to rotate your body around when you're suppose to use your body to rotate your arms around.
    • You need to learn weight transfer from hip to hip from punch to punch.

Here's another video with better lighting from last night:

My technique from the waste up was terrible but I felt like I was transferring my weight a lot better. I never had a workout that bad.

•Im tired so might be my eyes but looks like you pull your punches (you don't follow through)
•seems like your trying to get your hands back to quick so your not driving through the bag
•try to tuck elbows in more
