Mr Hennessy - NOW do your job and get Carl Froch a deal with Sky, BBC or ITV !!

Is there no way a deal could be done for his next fight (presuming it is not on sky) that the repeat could be shown on BBC or ITV the next day? would surely gain a bit more interest that way.

 

Why would you guys want that, the reason why he takes the hard fights and entertains real fans is because he doesn't have the stupid media and so called casual fans on his dick.

Look at other fighters in similar position, Martinez or Adamak, they win their fans in the ring, not in adverts and interviews in breakfast shows.

I hope Froch gets all the support from real fans but I also hope he does not turn into a celebrity fighter, just look at what happening to Daavid Haye...

 

Is he not tied to a deal with Primetime until at least the end of the Super Six? After that, if he wins or gets to the final and gives Ward a good fight, I'd imagine Sky would probably be interested.

Remember, ITV did show a lot of Froch's fights live, including his win against Pascal and then they showed his fight with Jermain Taylor on a delayed coverage the day after which was a Sunday afternoon where it would be seen my a wider audience. I guess viewing figures compared to the likes of Khan who they were also showing just weren't warranting the money they'd have to pay to show his Super Six fights. One of the reasons they wouldn't show the JT fight live is because they didn't think that many people would stay up to see Froch at 4am in the states, given that he wasn't really popular.

They only got Amir Khan v Paulie M which was in the states, purely 'cause Amir is the biggest name in British boxing and he was ITV's prize fighter, they basically gave him the platform and the national exposure to be the star he is, ever since he won silver in 2004 they got him on ITV on Saturday nights and made him a household name.

Froch on the other hand never had the star quality or the hype until the Super Six. Sky wouldn't pay the amount Froch's team and Showtime wanted for the JT fight either although they did make an offer, as did Setanta. None of the them valued Froch at the amount Team Froch/Showtime did. It's just business.

I don't know, but i think Hennessy's done a lot of pricing himself out of tv deals. Could be wrong.

On another, I don't see why Hennessy is getting so much stick. Warren wouldn't have even allowed Froch to enter the Super Six. Can't see that it's Hennessy's fault that ITV dropped their boxing.

 

That's a good point yeh, the great thing about Froch is that the boxing and glory comes first.

The match-up's he's been in are amazing and a 'better' promoter would not have had him fighting Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler and Abraham in a row, more away then home too.

It's annoying that he doesn't get the coverage that some far less accomplished fighters get but that's life isn't it.

Didn't Froch v Pascal do something like 3 or 4 million views? Surely thats not too bad viewing figures for a minority sport? i'm not sure what kahn v malignaggi did, but can't have been much more? (granted that took place in the early hours...)

with decent promotion, froch could be absolutely massive!

 

It's a real crying shame that in Froch we have a 2-time legit champion at his weight, fighting great comp, and he has about 10% of the public profile that, say, Audley Harrison has.

 

As I always say, he is a pretty good manager, getting his man a WBC title shot in his home town, and getting him in the super 6, but an absolutely atrocious promoter. **** up in a brewery comes to mind.

 

Sky getting hounded by comments from fans on their website to get Froch on. Britian's number 1 boxer should be showcased on sky.

Tremendous? He's put on some very decent 'sink or swim' type fights of late but he wraps his 'world titlists' up as if they were priceless Ming vases. Thus we have Burns v Evenssen and no doubt after that Burns v Appleby, Walsh and maybe even Arthur (none of whom are actually rated by the WBO at the moment of course. Appleby fights for the prestigious WBO intercontinental title against the current boxrec rated #507 on the undercard - so expect him to crash the ratings after winning!)
