very simple if there was ever a my Rushmore of boxing who should be on it? I’d assume criteria would be those who transcended the sport with their skill and marketability. If that doesn’t work make your own criteria

    Great thread.

4 busts are on the Mountain so I am going to stay with 4 boxers. All Heavy weights

George Washington (Founder) - I would replace with John L Sullivan
Thomas Jefferson - ( Independence) This one would have to be Muhammad Ali
Teddy Roosevelt ( Indomitable Spirit) Cant be anything but Rocky Marciano
Abraham Lincoln ( The great uniter) I have to give it to Joe Louis

I’d figure Ali, Louis, and SRR are locks the fourth I suppose depending where you’re from could be anyone from Duran, Foreman, Marciano, Pac, Lewis, Dempsey, Frazier. Not really sure of the fourth.
HW picks would be Ali Louis Marciano and Foreman but Frazier and Dempsey I feel are shorted from an importance stance here. Tough call.

In terms of importance to boxing itself, probably

    Jack Broughton
    Tom Johnson
    John L Sullivan
    Joe Louis

If we're going by the reasons given for the Presidents that were selected and apply them to boxing imo it would be:

Sullivan - The First and the Guide - Washington
Johnson - Independence and Freedom - Jefferson
Ali - Growth and Rights - Roosevelt
Louis - Uniting and Holding nation together - Lincoln

if we're only talking about achievements/resume

    Ali
    SRR
    Greb
    Langford

If we’re talking fighters who transcended the sport, who the general populace had heard of.
From Johnson, Dempsey, Robinson, Marciano, Ali, Leonard and Tyson.
For pure boxing achievement alone you would add others.
