I actually keep coming to this thread in hopes of Boxed Ears remarkable photoshopping skills being put to work.

 

I think you're forgetting just how dope the Sanchez sculpture would look with his mexi-fro, as well as underestimating the stamina and poise it generated. You won't sleep well for months after this dubious snub.

I did my part for Saldivar. Zopi and Chivito verified it. It would be a shame if he weren't to make the cut. In a H2H sense maybe not, but he may very well have the best resume - including both notable/significant wins and losses - out of any Mexican ATG. He's definitely up there, though IMO.

 

Done. Cave dem rocks bitches. And Marquez Morales and MAB could each have libraries with monuments to their greatness.

But, in all honesty, Arizmendi has two wins over Henry Armstrong.

Two.

Throw in wins over Miller and Wright, and a draw with Ambers and you have a serious candidate for Mexican Rushmore status.

Yeh, Nelson was green too and Armstrong's greater but the man sure as hell didn't fight like it. He wouldn't lose again - officially - until meeting Sweet Pea at 135 in a bid for his title. For god sakes, Sanchez won arguably The most significant fight between Mexico and Puerto Rico in the long history of their rivalry. He took Gomez' bombs without ever even changing his facial expression. Man was special, and accomplished special things for any amount of time, much less for the amount he was given. And BY GOD, Pedroza was going down Drew. :deal

He did So Much in only three years' time. His birthday is coming up on January 26th, I'm planning to do an official ESB tribute thread for him. Mag covers, articles, videos, go into his record more, flesh out accomplishments and highlights of his career, etc. One of my top five favorite fighters ever with Iron Mike, Manos, Pea, Keed; even ahead of MAB and JCC who are both in my top 10-12.
