    I agree with virtually everything stated (save the Pedroza going down part, of course. :D). In truth, I mentioned Azteca and Arizmendi because no one else was going to do so, and they sure as hell deserve mention as Mexican greats.

    That said, Armstrong was green, but was already considered to be a scary mofo at featherweight even at that early stage of his career. And the first time around, Arizmendi beat him with one good hand. He may not have been as heralded as Sanchez, but the results indicate that he was just about as beastly as Chava and Saldivar when at his best.

    :lol: No, beats me. There's been several times since the serv upgrade where the log-in screen refreshes on me with the fields still blank after I put the user info and try to logon. Only this one though, NWS gets in fine.

    Another great who hasn't been mentioned in this thread is Rodolfo Casanova (who has wins over Azteca and Arizmendi...as well as Juan Zurita)

    Edwin Rosario and Meldrick Taylor were also Top 5 P4P guys circa 86-87 and 90-91 respectively.

    So they sort of correspond with what it actually on Mt. Rushmore

    Baby Arizmendi (being the first Mexican champ)
    Salvador Sanchez (the legend is greater than the reality, but certainly worthy on his own, and a recognizable face)
    Julio Cesar Chavez (arguably the greatest of all time, and the guy who really pushed Mexican boxing into the worldwide mainstream)
    Juan Manuel Marquez (the greatest recent fighter)

    I'd have no problem subbing out Sanchez for Olivares or Salvidar, and wouldn't have a major problem subbing out Marquez for Barrera or Lopez. I'm very surprised for it to get 4 pages in before someone even gave a shout out to Arizmendi or Kid Azteca.

    If I were to just say the 4 greatest Mexican boxers regardless, I'd probably go Chavez, Salvidar, Oliveras, Sanchez.
