https://m.sundayworld.com/crime/cou...fighters-account-court-hears/a1849201859.html Looks like some fairly interesting bits that'll effect UK/IRE boxers might come out in this.
I honestly doubt they will bother much with 99% of the fighters managed by MTK, the bigger fighters were all on promotional deals that would have been getting their purses paid by Top Rank etc The ones for money laundering would have been the ones being paid directly from MTK with biggish purses or when they were doing 10 fight cards with a few hundred fans or like during COVID etc when costs were crazy having to have Boxers/Officials etc staying for 4-5 days in hotels before a show
Hard to know Frampton said he was a 0% management fee deal, so they must have been getting somthing out of the arrangement
Tbh with the likes of Frampton and a few other high profile fighters the publicity they were getting for the brand surely outweighed the need for a % of their purses. We all knew MTK didn't need the actual money from their fighters it was all about global dominance (as well as sports washing of course )
Hopefully something comes from all this but genuinely people are posting about this for the last couple of years and zero has happened. I am not certain it's that newspaper that constantly releases the articles but if it is then they have never been correct yet . More clickbait than actual facts
I think because some of it being raised in an actual court, albeit not directly linked to the case, it could make it tougher to ignore.
Amazing to think that MTK had the biggest stable in boxing by a mile. Fury and many other big name boxers were big cheerleaders for King Kinahan not long ago. The silence from all the ex MTK boxers is on a par with Dillan Whyte following a failed drugs test
I Agree 100% but remember all the promoters worked with him also and are silent too , are they getting a free pass like one of the boxers said ???
Rightly or wrongly I think almost everyone involved in boxing was forced to work with MTK in one way or another, they had such a big stable of boxers from small hall to elite level fighters so that then brings in coaches/managers etc as well as promoters and fighters.
Yes Kinahan even had a huge part in the agreement reached for the Fury v Joshua fight that never happened.
If you wanted to operate in boxing in the UK you had to deal with the big man in Dubai. In any other sport there would be Parliamentary inquires but as its boxing its baked into the sport we're a basket case.
I'm guessing the promoters get out is the fact they have to deal with who the boxers choose. But that's clearly a nonsense. Also worth remembering there is fairly good evidence Kinahan has a part of 258
Cyclone worked with them also , only when mcguigan started to lose boxers to MTK did he have an issue. Let's not give mcguigans a moral high ground here , they love a pound note more than most.
