Round 1

Durán is ducking away from the incisive double right jab of Flanagan. Durán is making himself a small target, crouching on the outside, ramping his lead left leg to maximize his lean-away capability, pawing cautious left jabs into the air. Flanagan is posted up at medium-long range, tossing darts with both fists, headhunting, very accurate despite the best efforts of Durán to move his forearm goalposts to block as needed, always keeping his chin pinched between his wrists. Flanagan mixes it up and lands some beautiful sinking & rising combos, scoring with hooks and straight thrusts on the belt line and then battering Durán's skull when he bends forward and/or lowers his guard. HUGE chopping right hook by Flanagan hurts Durán, encouraging him to press in and tie up.

Poor little fella barely got a punch in.

 

Flanagan looking vintage here. Not sure he should ever bother with a rematch against Rougarou, but on this form he certainly would have a fair chance to avenge the Hooker loss.

 

Round 2

Durán is getting absolutely creamed downstairs. Flanagan able to just sit out at quite a comfortable distance and unload his long left arm with pendulous shots into the torso. Durán wincing from each one, but sucking it up. Finally he takes a few that are too hard and strung too closely together and is obliged to drop his guard, leading to Flanagan landing a woodpecker double right hook on the left temple, causing Durán to go to a knee, riding the count until eight. Flanagan resumes where he left off, jabbing across the chasm into Durán's left orbital bone and then flashing hard body hooking combos when he blinks, creating that moment's hesitation before he can drop his elbows to intercept.

I can't see Durán making it even halfway (so, another two rounds)

 

Round 3

Durán is doing all he can to weather the storm, clutching both palms against his eyes, spine curled, both elbows nearly cinched to his waistband, yet he cannot escape the blistering fast hands of Flanagan. Right hook sends Durán fleeing into a corner, badly hurt. Flanagan picks his spots, throwing HARD, fast, accurate combinations, finding spots to at least partially land around, through, over, and beneath the gloves of Durán. Flanagan reverting to long torpedo lefts when Durán switches from clinching to running. Durán is getting rocked dizzily now as Flanagan opens up with left uppercuts and chopping rights pressing in, barely able to wrap his arms over Flanagan's waist to keep himself from splashing into a puddle on his rickety legs.

Yeah, landing at well over 50% of his power shots IMO..

 

Round 4

Durán is standing off at mid-range, cagey, jabbing up at Flanagan and then slinking in close to grab him about the chest. Flanagan is dusting him with flurries skimming over the tips of his gloves into the hairline. Strong left hand leads by Flanagan on the outside. Durán is down, but it was a push as Flanagan leaned his full weight into his right arm down against the back of the neck on the inside. Flanagan keeps working him as Durán flicks out the odd defensive shot here and there in retreat. Durán again pushed down.

Round 5

Durán is caught with a series of hard southpaw 1-2s. Durán is unable to make any headway past the right jab, and when he moves away Flanagan is all the better able to crack him with the straight left. Durán is forced to just stand pat and try lunging in with his wing-and-prayer shots, attempting to needle-thread between Flanagan's punches but poorly outmatched in a battle of timing. Flanagan slams Durán's own bent forearms into his chest with a hard plunging left, and then raps him upside the head with a quick right hook as he's bent involuntarily forward.

Honestly shocked there's only been the one knockdown so far.

 

This is just causing me to feel impatiently annoyed wanting to see Flanagan in with a live body again.

 

Round 6

Durán is getting picked off at range with the 1-2. Flanagan looking almost bored as he snaps it out time and time again. Durán sees an opening as Flanagan begins to stretch the pause in between salvos, and Durán seizes the opportunity to press forward and harry Flanagan against the ropes with high left & right hacking blows. Flanagan leans back and blocks virtually all of them, and they make their way out to center ring once more where Flanagan calmly jabs into the face of Durán until the latter dives in and clinches.
