..whereas I'm shocked Harkin even managed to capture the Celtic welter title. I feel this may have been a step down from Luis Alberto Verón, the Argie that McKinson beat in his last outing eleven months ago.

McKinson walking Harkin onto needling right jabs, quick right hooks, and 1-2s charged up with a quick lean backward to spring-load. Harkin to his credit just keeps coming on, albeit with just the one very slow, monotonous gear and pushing sloppy punches out uncreatively. Very low pace. McKinson not setting up his own shots, sitting back & waiting to counter.

McKinson fresh as a daisy, could counter Harkin's head off for fifteen rounds if he wanted to. Just jab after jab whittling down Harkin's nose like a wood sander. Harkin never getting close to range for the uppercuts he's trying to land - and he never seems to realize his length and throw anything from outside.

Latham's card is an outrage, tbh. For him to get that he mathematically needed to have:

...given Harkin three rounds. Absurd enough.

and then either
not scored one of the three knockdowns or
scored one round even on top of the three Harkin rounds. (meaning McKinson only won 6 on his card)

 

McKinson thinks he's being avoided by the bigger young names in his weight class in Britain.

He wants Connor Benn, Josh Kelly, or Chris Kongo - says the four of them are the ones that everyone's focus really ought to be on right now.

He also mentioned a Twitter beef with Devon Alexander that he was hoping to parlay into something in the pre-fight interview.

Any of those certainly makes more sense than whooping another hapless Harkin type.

Way less power, speed, explosiveness - but waaaaaaay higher ring IQ, and way less of a douchebag.
