Muhammad Ali Zahid vs. Nathan Hardy, 6 rounds @ light middleweight

Ali Zahid is jabbing his way in responsibly enough, and then going berserk with horribly telegraphed, loose & wild right hands - but Hardy's reflexes and defensive instincts are poor enough that he gets dinged above the left ear or bang on his temple by most of them anyhow. Ali Zahid batters Hardy across the ring and puts him down with a series of flailing rights. Hardy is up and swapping jabs on the backfoot until he startled himself by running into the ropes, and then bows forward, his face by his ankles while Ali Zahid pummels his backside.

Ali Zahid is now sweeping out big hooks, just as ugly but just as effective in splattering Hardy bodily against the ropes and turnbuckles, limbs akimbo. Hardy showing a bit of toughness in staying on his feet as long as he does, but only a matter of time before this gets waved off I think.

 

Muhammad Ali Zahid's ring name is "The Diabetic Kid" and well, truth be told, fitting as his boxing is anything but sugar-sweet.

Absolutely horrid finisher, anybody should have gotten Hardy out by now after landing so much on him.

 

Hardy went down again in the fourth, but is still here in the fifth..

 

Hardy makes it the full six in a messy brawl.

 

Scored by ref Michael Alexander, 59-55 for Ali Zahid. Moral victory of sorts I suppose for Hardy, that he both survived and nicked an official round to deny the Diabetic Kid the shutout.

 

Sahir Iqbal vs. Serge Ambomo, 6 rounds @ light middleweight

 

The veteran Cameroonian (now residing in Yorkshire) has only 7 victories in 26 outings, but a few of those were upsets. Iqbal will need to mind what he's about here, as he isn't a puncher (6-0 with just a single kayo) and one doesn't easily stop Ambomo. In as few rounds as six, you can't afford to give many away, if any.

 

Cagey stuff. Iqbal pumping out a strong 1-2 but Ambomo keeps turtle-shelling and barging his way in close, then ducking Iqbal's downward-swatting rights (or absorbing them on the back of the head) and scrapping with up-jabs and body shots until they clinch and force a break.
