Mtwaga's strategy against Juanma, may have set the BLUE-PRINT for beating PBF.

After watching the Juanma/Mtagwa fight again this morning.

I thought Juanma looked DAMN good for the first 5 rounds. He was patient, stickin' n' moving, being Classic Juanma.

    Then something EXTRAORDINARY happened!!!!

Mtagwa decided take the fight from a ring in MSG to a BACK-ALLEY BEHIND A GREYHOUND BUS STATION WITH SWITCH-BLADES AND BOX-CUTTERS....MTAGWA SET AND FORCED THE PACE AND MADE IT AN ALL-OUT BRAWL....Which Juanma either did not expect nor prepared for!!!!

And it was evident that fighting at that kind of pace....It had Juanma Totally GASSED by round 8.

And watching Mtagwa again...got me thinking.

Mtagwa may have set the BLUE-PRINT for beating The most HATED fighter in the ESB Boxing Forum....What Classic Counter Puncher, with patients, speed, GREAT Defense can this Strategy be effective against....YOU GUESSED IT!!!

    FLOYD MAYWEATHER.

The Question is...Who at Welterweight (maybe even Light Welter or Jr. Middleweight) can set, force and most importantly KEEP THAT KIND OF FRANTIC, STRAIGHT AHEAD, AGGRESSIVE BRAWLING STYLE/PACE FOR 12 ROUNDS.

Cotto can force the pace against Mayweather, But he can't keep that pace for 12 rounds. And once the pace slows...That is when Mayweather's ring smarts take over.

Pacquio can indeed keep that kind of pace for 12 rounds. But Because of the Huge Size difference...Mayweather will pick him apart.

For the record...Its been tried. Hatton did it for about 5 rounds...But stop coming forward. Judah did it for about 6 rounds also...But Judah has always been known for running out of gas.

Two Fighters comes to mind that can keep that pace...Paul Williams and Antonio Margarito.

When fighting a "THINKING FIGHTER"...you have to MAKE HIM FIGHT, INSTEAD OF THINKING.

    We'll See.

Maybe Marg could have done it. We'll never EVER see that fight. I think Marg would get outboxed but would have loved to have seen it, but again it's not going to and would have never happened. Suspension or not.

Watch out for Ellerbe aka Rooney, he's gonna flip. Take this flame shield.

    Dude...

Floyd is too conditioned, too smart, and too experienced to get drawn into that kind of fight. He's also too settled in at 147 now physically to get forced into that kind of fight. What you saw was a young fighter clawing his way through the first truly challenging moments of his career. Nothing more, nothing less.

The one man at 147 I could see being even remotely successful fighting him this way would be Shane, but I think he'd gas at some point and then be very vulnerable to counters.

And how many years ago was that?

How many fights had he had previously at the weight?

It was JuanMa's own damn fault the fight went the way it did. He started slugging with a guy whose only chance to win was to turn the ring into Vietnam. I watched a replay knowing what had happened and was still cheering Mtagwa on for the heart he showed in making it a good fight, but let's not pretend he reinvented the wheel here...

Totally agreed with you on that one:good

But back to Mayweather why cant you accept that for whatever reason Floyd got drawn into Castillo's fight that night years ago?

Floyd isn't going to sit and trade with anyone like Juanma did.. So it won't work against him..

That drawing a technical boxer into a brawl is a good idea is somehow a revelation here? I'm not sure you've split the atom on this one.

I like the point you are attempting to make, however your position falters under one assumption. You are assuming that JuanMa has the ring generalship, the defense and boxing IQ of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Trying to turn it into a brawl against PBF usually don't not work, because he is really hard to hit. Then the aggressive fighter gets frustrated and start to come in without control. Meanwhile, PBF is pot-shotting, hitting to the body during all of these attempts. Then the aggresive fighter begins to slow and as you pointed out accurately, when they slow, its curtains. Remember, you will not see "Money" gassed at any time during a fight. I know he is the boxer that everyone loves to hate for various reasons, but its hard for fighters to take out what they cannot find. Peace.

Wait a second, let me get this straight... you're saying that Mtwaga set the blueprint to beat Floyd during his fight with Juan Manuel Lopez? Are there dots that are supposed to connect somewhere?

    Difference is.

JuanMa isn'ta clincher, he's a very novice clincher a matter of fact.

Mayweather is the king of clinching.

    Lord no.

The difference is Mtagwa (or his equivelent) wouldn't be getting that kind of success against Mayweather. He wouldn't be landing telegraphed shots like that, so it would come down the fact he's getting outlanded easily. Mayweather is also more experienced and conditioned, he wouldn't tire, he'd keep up the exhibition Lopez was putting on for a full 12.

I do agree pressure is the only chance of beating Mayweather unless you have physical advantages and a good reach/jab. But it has to be much smarter.

Check out Floyd against Jesus Chavez. Chavez was a really good fighter, much sharper and more intense pressure, and he got eaten up.
