has there been any muay thai fighters that have changed to mma and been reasonably good at it? i know some mma fighters have practiced some muay thai along with other martial arts, however i mean fighters whose main or only style was muay thai.
Sityodtong was some sort of WBA champ' and an experienced Muay Thai fighter....but he's still very much a work-in progress. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XI1vI7gC6g[/ame]
I think he may have been 'American National Champion', but I have no idea how prestigious that is to be honest, maybe someone else can put it into context?
He's getting on in age, but I would love to see him in the UFC flyweight division. Devastating striker.
I wish he was younger he could have been a great mma fighter if he was younger. He is a good boxer AND thai boxer. And he showed pretty good ground game for his first fight it makes me almost wanna cry that he´s already 37 :|
Edson Barboza had a lot of achievements in Brazil and planned on having a career in K1 before deciding to go with MMA instead.
Just a picture of the UFC logo on Buakaw's page and the the caption "What you think? If BUAKAW fight in UFC." I don't even think he manages the page. Buakaw in MMA would have been a beast, but he would be starting way too late, now.
Agree 100%, imagine it's just a bit of fun. If he'd hit it in his prime and worked for years on his TDD? That's a fun hypothetical :yep
