And most Muay Thai champions are Thai, whats your point? Two different rule-sets and you just named 5 heavyweights. I don't know if you've ever been to Thailand but there isn't exactly a plethora of Thai heavyweights, mainly due to most Thais being pretty small.
WTF has genetics got to do with it dutch kickboxer have good hands and good legs whilst muay thai kickboxers normally just have good legs masato proved that buakaw was overrated and had **** hands the second time he beat him. :good
no. though I get what your saying, many dont really know how many great, great muay thai fighters their have been. Buakaw though is still a fantastic fighter, among the best of our era. what fool would think Buakaw whos only Thai titles are toyota and Omoi champ, compares to the creame of the crop ATG mauy thai legends who have won multiple Lump and Raja titles? thats like comparing James Toney to Robinson, Greb and the like. Even in the recent/ present day era Buakaw ranks lower in Full Muay Thai than: Namsaknoi Seanchai Anuwat Yodsanklai kem Mostly because for about 6 years Buakaw has been spending his time competing in kickboxing in which he has reached the highest levels and won the highest awards (2 time K1 max champ). I believe Buakaw should be ranked higher in Kickboxing as I see him as among the best kickboxers of all time. Buakaw Beat: Souwer - should be at least 2 wins for buakaw 2009 was a clear robbery Masato - I would love to see a rubber match <-- never gonna happen:verysad Kraus - one victory was a clear robbery, the other kraus got a kd and some favourable judging. technically they are 2-2. Sato - buakaw lost 1 of their 3 fights by ko. Parr Zambidis Skarbowsky Takada Drago Holzken Chahbari should have got the nod over maybe pre-prime Petro. your obviously a moron.
Yes...I agree with you.......but if we had a boxing thread discussing the greats, and the names of Toney, Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao showed up, and nothing about Greb or Robinson.....probably would be fair to say that Cotto, Manny or Toney are overrated......
Going to Holland next week .Not K1 training yet though but maybe some if everything goes good in the future because my job will be based there .Found this thread so it's fair to say Dutch K1 can live with Muay Thai then happy days .Only did 1 or 2 Muay Thai classes but did boxing for a couple of yrs so I think I would learn fast .Technically I know it's not that easy but for an amatuer boxer pretty much just put 2 and 2 together I think and make a few asjustments .I was almost ready for a fight in the amatuers . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYhUC2uQR7I
HENDO clearly doesn't actually know what Muay Thai is. Any small Thai has better technique than anyone else. And to those saying Thai's don't have good hands? The innumerable brilliant punchers say otherwise, even if it is spread over a lot of the talent pool, because there are 6 other points of contact to be a specialist of. The amount of Thai's that convert to boxing successfully show that, when they only need use their hands, they're adept. It's just less important in pure MT scoring, which is why it may appear that the Thai's are less handy when it comes to their hands.
Back to the thread question, Holland have produced some really notable MT guys as well as their more lauded HW kickboxers. Their heavyweights have to be given credit of course but it's not really something you can compare to pure MT, smaller guys are more athletically suited to the art. Oh, and you'll be very unlikely to find a Thai that big. Doesn't matter when a smaller guy like Kaoklai can spark heavyweights :yep
