I think we can make a much better assessment of Deontay with this video. The guy obviously has flaws but his upside is tremendous. With the right coaching, Wilder can be among the biggest stars in the sport.

His pluses are height and reach, seems to have a big right hand (though it's hard to say how effective it will be against top competition), and he seems to be a pretty athletic guy. However, he still needs a lot more polishing and could probably stand to put on some weight. His chin is high questionable as well. Sounds like a job for Steward...

    He is a bum.

edit. look at his opponent record carefully bum with padded record... these guys are douing no good for Wilder.. they are not helping Deontay or getting him any better...

Cota looked like a fat midget.

Deontay needs to get into Emanuel Steward camp. He is the exact type of boxer Steward would turn into a world beater, and he would get to spar with Wladimir Klitschko. Even getting his ass kicked there would be better than fighting 1000 Cota's.

:good Agree with most, but Wilder dont have much amateur experience so no need to rush him, let him develop surely he should step it up a bit but nothing to drastic!

Surely, he could still fight bums while sparring with Wlad? I think it sounds like a good idea. He also had sparring with Haye and Adamek.

I don't think Wilder has fought one guy that was inshape yet. Every video I see is him against some short fat guy. It is pitiful. :rofl:patsch

His balance has improved, foot work slightly better, but he still gives up way too much height, keeps his hands low, doesn't establish distance well, and is still primarily a 1 handed fighter.
