Ali was bigger than Povetkin and Brewster, taller and longer but trimmed of the excess flesh and "unenhanced." I have personally shook the hand of both a 47 year old Ali and a prime Sasha. Ali struck me as larger, bigger framed, even in his dotage. And Povetkin was as skilled a heavy as I have seen in the last couple decades and with proper guidance would have already gotten a title. By the way, Ernie Terrell, who Ali spanked unmercifully, was the same size as Wilder. Bugner, who a depleted Ali beat, was just as long, heavier and only a couple inches shorter than Wilder.

Marciano was looking for a credable opponent that he could make money with. There was no money fights and with problems with Al Weil taking half his cut it was time to go. He did consider fighting Ingo for a bit but the gym desire was not there, besides I think Weil may have still been entitiled to half Marciano's purse.

Weill was a crook,if Marciano could have gotten cash under the counter he would have carried on,he approached Sam Silverman with that in mind.

Layne was soft in the midsection and Rocky targeted it to slow him down for the later ko.

I have an article where Marciano himself openly states “I want Valdes”

It was marcianos manager who placed obstacles in Valdes path toward a title shot

Many contenders who gave champions trouble were soft in the midsection

    Tony Galento
    Willie Meehan
    Luis Firpo
    Jess Willard
    Frank Moran
    Jerry Quarry in the 70s

    Are a few examples

Ali performed best around 212 when he came in at 220 or more his performance seemed to be negatively affected
Povetkin and Brewster both seemed to perform effectively at higher weights than Ali did.

Povetkin was easily beaten by Wladimir so i don't see the relevance in bringing him up to begin with

You more or less just TKOd or own arguement with this paragraph. It depends on how you want to view it. They were not good enough then because Holmes, Foreman and Ali were not that easy to beat. It took more than sheer size. There are so many variables in boxing. It is uncommon for a SuperHeavy 240lbs+ to have enough of the others.

Lennox Lewis had the best balance that I have seen for a fighter that big. Coordination, fluidity, agility, quick enough hands, not muscle bound AKA heavily muscled. Also versatile enough to fight not just on the outside but at mid range, throwing combinations and even on the inside. It’s not illegal for a tall heavyweight to fight in close. He may have to oneday.
Wlad could have used some of those attributes when he was lost and confused against Fury.

The way I see it, and I have Marciano AND Ali as my "GOATS" (I have 3, with joe louis being the third), the more rounds, the better chance marciano's freakish stamina and strength have

In the 20 round no TKO days, Marciano absolutely knocks out muhammad ali

in the 15 round almost no tko days, its a toss up, either ali UD/SD or Marciano KO/UD/SD

in the 12 round tko for no reason era (current era), ali absolutely wins by UD
