What i said... A boxer puncher who used a jab was not even similar to a short brawler ....nothing at all in common, so how the hell is liston " a bigger version of marciano"?

The question will be in what era are they fighting in Marciano's era he was the man in Louis's era it was he and in Ali's it was he. Lewis was a product of the superheavyweight olympic era size & different trainng methods for size. In Louis & Marciano & Dempsey era the big guys were already knocked off before they could get to the top 10, the exceptions being Willard & Carnera.

Foreman was 6'3 220 but had his struggles & dropped and almost stopped by Lyle who despite being 6"3 was not an elite puncher, Jimmy Young also dropped George so a guy like Walcott could have duplicated that win. That dosent mean Foreman couldnt have beaten anyone on the list on a given night, its just not a certainty because he also had his flaws.

Joe Louis beat guys 6'6 and 250 but Lennox Lewis & the Klitschko's were a better quality perhaps but Lennox was also KO'd by McCall and Rahman. Tyson could also beat many but again when the going got tough vs Evander,Buster,Williams, & McBride he failed to show perfection. Ali was a great fighter but guys like 180lb Henry Cooper, 188lb 5'11 Doug Jones, and 26 fight 5'10 206lb Joe Frazier gave him hell so why wouldnt Marciano? We could also reverse that question as to why wouldnt Marciano have trouble with Ali because of his fights with Walcott, Charles, etc. The true answer can be only told when the 2 men enter the ring.

speculation can not make me do what no opponent was ever able to do & that is beat Marciano.

Marciano provided such a small sample size of performance. He was only a pro for half a dozen years and only fought decent opposition for his final 14 or so fights, and the best championship guys he faced were uniformly old and on the small side. That's not a broad spectrum of opponents.

Ali, on the other hand, fought every stripe, size, age and ability of opponent over a couple decades. He fought guys who debuted in the 1930's to guys who finished their careers in the 2000's. That's a helluva sample size.

Marciano made his reputation beating old, shop worn balding fighters with a million miles on the clock......he never beat a prime undefeated out standing fighter......ever, C***ell/Lastarza are cannon fodder at best...

Ali beat young , undefeated, prime ATG's even when he was on the decline.....

Marciano would not see the final bell against Ali, guaranteed.

BTW, Foreman, Tyson, Bowe or Lewis would bounce Marciano around like a bowling ball, you can take that to the bank.

Ali had a 21 year career turning pro in 1960 and retiring in 1981.

Here's what Ali said about Marciano

Ali said on their respective best days, he probably would have won, but it would be a hard fight. And I agree

You can't always go with resume to determine who beats whom. Going into 1973, Fraizer had a far superior resume to Foreman and before then, if the internet existed and this forum existed, we'd be able to find posts about how Chuvalo and Bonavena were better than Foreman or anyone on his resume, how he's a cheap knockoff of Sonny Liston and how we should expect Fraizer to expose and massacre him. And one big piece of evidence in Fraizer favor would be his better resume.

But resume didn't mean a hill of beans during the actual fight. It was about what the two fighters brought into the ring and Fraizer came up short.

Yeah, I mean I don’t disagree with anything you say, but I don’t like your tone. Rocky was a great champion and deserves more respect. He wouldn’t beat Ali, but he wouldn’t make it easy for him. Rocky had some serious great qualities that could trouble most fighters.

Their isn’t a sub 190lber in history I would pick to beat rocky at his best

Walcott was “balding” but does it matter when you are as ripped as he was?

Yeah.. It is laughable saying that lyle was not a big puncher. And wait for his reply that will be the next one " who were the best ranked contenders that lyle did stop? "
And you can make the same question for earnie shavers...
