Except you were just yammering on in another thread that Liston wasn't that strong or really that powerful. LMAO. You went as far as to say he didn't show his power against anyone other than 184lb Floyd Patterson. Now your riding his ..... I couldn't write this Stuff you do this to yourself.
1- i never said that he did not show his power against anyone except patterson,it is simply a lie. 2- even if this lie was truth it has absolutely nothing to do with the comment that you are replying here.. What i said here was that marciano and liston were not even similar physically nor stylistically .You was desperated to find a way to reply me with the topic sonny liston and the only thing that you got is exposing yourself like a complete idiot.
1967 Ali on cuts after 8 rounds of Marciano absorbing punishment, getting dropped and looking slow and amateurish 1971 FOTC Ali on cuts after 10 rounds. Ali clowns Marciano for the first 3 rounds but starts to slow down as his legs tire and Marciano punches to the body. Ali keeps landing on Rocky but Rocky starts periodically landing after 4 and regularly landing in the 8th round, turning it into a war and making the improbable come from behind victory look possible, but his face is falling apart and he looks more and more unsteady on his feet. Referee/Doctor mercy stoppage after the 10th round. Marciano is just too small and has never ever had to deal with anybody like Ali stylistically. Alis chin is also twice as good as any of marcianos title defenses and prime Ali also happens to be fresh be and youthful not declining/shot like all of marcianos top wins
Who on marcianos record is in any way comparable to a 25 year old 6'3 ripped 210-215lb youthful ali? We know Ali won't fold against someone tough and we know he can take a punch( which he didn't take many of IN HIS PRIME) so we know he deals with Rocky's best attributes. But Rocky never had to fight anyone with prime Ali's best attributes. Nobody in the 50s moved and danced like that, it was frowned upon.i don't think Marciano would know what to do and how to corner him. I think he would look silly and undersized. Remember how Tyson looked against Bruno in 1996 and ruddock? Like a midget right? That's how Marciano would look against Ali just physically. And the problem for marciano would be its Ali in there and not someone who is small, slipping and old or a 38 year old shell of louis Alot of people would realize what a mismatch it would be once they were in the ring together with Marciano looking small, missing, not knowing how to deal with the movement or get past the jab and getting shaken up by every shot and being driven back by every Ali flurry simply because the other guy would be iron chinned, incredibly talented and 25lbs heavier at least
This thread makes about as much sense as Julio cesar Chavez vs Sugar Ray Robinson And that's being very generous to Rocky because he doesn't have anything on his resumee like a win over a peak Meldrick taylor.
This content is protected I think a prime Rocky Marciano would have done at least as well. Sure, he's smaller than Chuvalo, but a harder puncher, his chin is good enough for this fight, much higher work rate and an overall better fighter.
Marciano would give Ali problems for sure. His awkward timing and his two fisted power would make it difficult for Ali to open up with his usual combos...similar to how Frazier was able to break through with his own punches during their fights. No question would Ali get off to an early lead with his speed, but as each round wore on, punch by punch Marciano would leave his toll. He was the type of puncher where it was difficult to fully shake off the effects of his blows. Most likely Ali wins a decision, but at the same time it's tough to rule out Marciano from grinding his way to a win himself by breaking his way through to Ali and putting in good work to the body and also the head. Rocky was a great two-fisted puncher and arguably could hurt any man who ever laced up the gloves with a single punch. He's so controversial because of how unique he was with his punching and fighting attributes. More arguments could be made one way or the other with him than can be said with most great fighters. He would have just as close of a fight with a total journeyman as he would a truly great boxer, his uniqueness came into play with his strangely functional physical attributes and natural ability to come out on top in a fight. This is why it is not, in my opinion, fair to say Ali simply dances his way around Marciano and beats him up. He'd be dealing with a man who simply knows how to fight. Even listening to Rocky's fight commentary shows he had a very clear understanding of what was going on in the ring.
How many punchers did Ali fight and beat? Foreman Frazier Lyle Liston Shavers Foster Bonavena Quarry Norton And so on and so forth.
As I've pointed out there is a lot of circular logic with this claim Ali fought ATGs. If Ali hadn't lost to Frazier I doubt Frazier would be rated as highly. Maybe Ali just wasnt as great as people think.
Ali slices him up . He doesn't stand a chance . Come on Marciano is just a wonderful part of our boxing history but he wasn't a great heavy. Really guys come on he fought bums or washed up old greats.
