I would not underestimate Ali because of the stronger mind but Ali did have trouble with shorter guys and Tyson had the speed and the left hook to hurt Ali and drop him...the stronger mind of Ali is a factor for me but a pre-Douglas era Tyson would be a dangerous foe for Ali

Not so sure Ali can survive the distance against a prime Tyson:think

This. It's possible I guess, and I will admit that if the fight goes beyond 5 or 6 rounds, Ali will definitely have the advantage, but Tyson is his prime will be a whole new type of opponent for Ali. Ali's faced huge punchers before yes, but none of them also had the hand speed, head movement, or combination punching abilities of a prime Iron Mike. I tell you one thing, trying the rope-a-dope with Tyson would be ******ed. He'd have to try a different strategy.

    Tyson in a 12-round fight.

    Ali in a 15-round fight.

Tyson has no chance against prime Ali. Ali has a chin, will to win and toughness equal to or better than any past champion...this is why he was never stopped aside from Holmes in a fight he never should have taken. Tyson is a head case..always was....and this is as per his own trainers. Ali would rattle Tyson before the first bell rings and then outbox him over the first 3-5 rounds to a point that he would start questioning his ability to win. It then becomes a gradual beat down....finally culminating in a TKO by the 12th round.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Ali himself agreed. But hey, most men always want the good guy (in this case Ali) to beat the bad guy (in this case Tyson), because most men are insecure and subconsciously fear that a bad men like Tyson would steal their women. But I'm not even gonna waste my time arguing with them. :yep

It might come down to mental stamina.
I think the fight would go into the the late rounds and Ali might have that extra gear and adaptability to win it down the stretch. 15 rounds would favour Ali.
Tyson was excellent fighter but he started out so intense and in such a high gear that he did really have that 'extra' gear, mentally or physically. So unless he completely dominates Ali from the opening bell and knocks the fight out of Ali in the early going, he's going to be at a disadvantage if Ali presents a new gear in the later part of the fight.

    LMAO

Tyson never beat a great fighter in his life, he lost every time he fought someone with a pulse. Ali would win every round easily and KO Tyson within 8.

Ali is the far greater fighter....this is why he is rated as the greatest and Tyson rated no where near the greatest. Main difference is Alis mental and physical toughness which in critical situations Tyson totally lacked. Again this s not just my thought but the thought of his own trainers....mentally not strong.

    Agreed.

Can you imagine Mike having to cope with that Ali pre-fight hoopla? And getting made fun of constantly with his lisp/his background/etc. Ali did that to everyone and I sure don't see Tyson handling it well whatsoever. It would have been as humiliating as the stuff Chuvalo and Terrell had to endure. Anyone not following the sport back then has zero clue as to the day to day public haranging Ali subjected his opponents to.

Ali would have him using way too much nervous energy early and then simply taking him out to deep waters and drowning him once he gets fatigued. And Tyson gets fatigued anyway in his fights and has an easy to read gas guage. Wrong guy to be in against when you are down to a 1/4 tank in the 7th round.
