Considered doing the '67 Ali,but wanted a little more scope for competition. This is n't so much a 'who would have won' thread,as it's virtually a foregone conclusion, more about how Bruno would do against Ali compared to how his British opponents in the past did. I see Frank lasting longer against Muhammad than Brian London or Richard Dunn did,but he would n't last the distance like Joe Bugner,or give him the problems that were provided by Henry Cooper. ???????
Ali wins by stoppage mid rounds not unlike the foreman fight, only frank eats more leather and is exhausted. Ref saves him or towel comes in
Ali looks perfect in this fight. Bruno lands a few good jabs and a couple hard right hands but they don't bother Ali too much. Ali wins every round and stops Bruno around the 7th or 8th round while he's still on his feet (but helpless). Ali talks Bruno up after the fight even though it's pretty one-sided... mentions his heart and the power of his punches, etc.
Bruno doesn't stand a chance. His jab is usually a big weapon for him but this time he's the one getting out jabbed. Bruno was also very powerful but Ali's chin withstood bombs from the likes of Foreman and Frazier, so even a lucky punch is out of the question. I see Bruno lasting 7-8 rounds tops before the ref steps in and stops the fight with Bruno on the ropes taking shots.
Ali beats him pretty easy. Bruno will probably have a moment or two but I'm not even sure he wins a single round..... Ali stops him on his feet.
Have to agree with all points, I think Ali beats Bruno about as easily, maybe even easier, than he beat Cooper in the rematch in 66. The speed difference is just too much, Ali would constantly get off first & i see the ref calling a halt in about rd 8 of an Ali domination.
Yep, Bruno has no advantages here, reach, height, skill, size etc. Maybe more powerful but that means nothing against iron chinned Ali as he proved against monstrous punchers time and time again throughout his career. Frank gets stopped in the 7th, and a life long friendship is born.
