Well, I didn't think anyone would think it was mine. I mean, it sounds too professional for that! This is from the same man who free-styled with MIKE TYSON, J.

OUCH....! Okay,I have done a lot of Ali threads during the year that I've been on this site, but if you look back through my history, you;ll see that I've posted on many different fighters. As for you picking Douglas because you can, well, that's democracy. Our God given right. No matter how many politicos try to take it from us. Keep posting Pete,as you do some good ones.

I think that you're letting your loathing of Ali the MAN obscure your perception of Ali the BOXER. Most, whether they like Ali or not, will admit that he's no less than the second greatest heavyweight of all time. Now,I've found Mike Tyson, for example,to have been an absolute wanker as a man over the years, but it still does n't stop me rating him as one of the top 10 all time heavies.

Ali was completely washed up Post-Zaire.His legs were gone and he was a stationary target whose greatest strength was his ability to absorb punishment.A walking, talking punching bag is all he was at that point.

Buster Douglas would soundly outboxed him in a rather one-sided bout.Probably would have knocked him out too.

It's debatable whether a prime Ali could have beaten that version of Douglas.

Although I agree with you that Ali would KO Douglas, you can't make the comparison with Frazier and Douglas because they have completely different styles.

Interesting take. Douglas got his act together for one night only, and you consider him to be Superman....?

Compared to the version of Ali you're talking about, yes,he was.

The way Buster Douglas took apart, dominated and thoroughly outclassed a prime Mike Tyson was more impressive than any performance ali ever had throughout his twenty years as a pro.

A washed up version of Ali would get his backside handed to him in a decisive manner by that version of Douglas.

    I'm leaning towards Tokyo Douglas....

Ali in 1975 was on the decline, he was not the same fighter as he was in 1971 or even 1967 where he'd be a clear favorite. IMO his style and workrate would have been a handful for Ali who at that point was a more flat footed fighter who fought in spurts.

James "Tokyo" Douglas is a hell of name.

Ali by late and very big KO but it would be a hell of a fight. Ali had problems with the Jab, but as crazy and arrogant as he was, Ali could prevail in a classic. He would prevail in a classic, Rocky vs Appolo 1-like fight, but Ali by KO. Ali RULED the '70's when past his prime. He But only if it was the Manilla Ali version. Any version of Ali after Manilla would lose big time to Buster. (Ali ruined Frazier in the FOTC, but Frazier ruined Ali in their third fight) And I know Ali lost to Young and Norton but at the end of the day, you have to accept these decisions.

You need to STFU! Prime Ali would kill Buster. Post Prime, well, Ali still wins I think, but I would not rule out a lopsided win for Buster.
