This content is protected Beautiful. Ali's skill and intelligence as a fighter is sometimes overshadowed by his speed and physical abilities. But we can clearly see here how skilled he was at counter punching. Taking away the jab with the right hand. Gorgeous. If you take away your opponents most frequently thrown punch, you have essentially won the fight.
Watch the shoulder rolls Ali did against Jimmy Ellis. All it took him was one training camp with Harry Wiley.
Ali was hiding his chin behind his shoulder all through his prime when he was dancing and blading. Watch his jab to the body and see how he steps back out of range. Against Foreman in Kinshasa, there's a particular shot that Foreman throws that bounces right off Ali's shoulder. Evidence of a varied skillset is there for those that have eyes to see.
Coming from the guy who thought Usyk had no head movement, I don't think you're the best judge of either fighter’s abilities.
It’s not a complicated technique to pull off he could’ve talked to anyone with a few neuron's to link… Ali could do it with little practice because he had excellent eyes and an understanding of range that’s something that you don’t get anywhere but throwing hands, if you know how to put your weight on your right foot you’re done.
Actually in some ways really taking away a persons jab isn’t as helpful as letting him throw it, you want to counter right hands and hooks they come after the jab… countering the jab too much and you’ll be there all night when he stops throwing much and he gets cagey or non combative.
