It baffles me too, especially when people try and tie boxing in with other sports.

Sports science, nutrition, training equipment and facilities may have improved, but that doesn't mean that today's fighters are better and more skilled.

Like you say, how many of today's guys could fight once per month, or over 15 rounds etc?

  2. Did you ever have a chance to see the fight with Povetkin? I think it was in the 12th where Klitschko took him by the back of his head with one arm, and threw him across the ring like a rag doll. If that's not freakish strength than I don't know what is.

Muhammad Ali is not A LOT faster. Just because he's black, and Klitschko is white and bigger than him doesn't mean that Ali will have such a prodigious speed advantage. The discrepancy between the fighters in terms of speed is low to moderate at best. And that's if you give Ali every single benefit of the doubt. Klitschko
has tremendous hand speed, especially when taking into consideration of just how large this man his.

Like I said, I don't know where you see this monumental skill set from. Most boxing observers at the time took note of how Ali's imperfections in terms of technique was only compensated by his overall athletic abilities. The man through looping punches for Christ sakes. He was nowhere near the sharp and potent puncher Wlad was.

Wlad is a master of spatial reasoning and distance. He just wouldn't allow Ali the opportunity to close the distance or land a sufficient number of punches to turn the tide of the fight. This would equate to a chess match. A chess match in which Klitschko has a higher abundance of pieces to maneuver himself into a position that would see Ali checkmated.

  3. The science of this sport is embodied by Ali's ******ed looking slaps that he threw onto his opponents which are usually masqueraded as hooks.

Please  Don't be so stupid.

It's obvious that Wlad throws the much straighter, and more powerful punches than Ali.

whats his colour got to do with it? Hes fast because hes the fastest HW anyone has ever seen.

what you mean is that because hes black you don't want to acknowledge his obvious large speed advantage.

  5. Well what are some contrasts that we can draw from Ali and Haye since you like to denote the vast differences between the two men?

Well for one Hay is a lot more naturally athletic than Ali.

Haye is most definitely advantageous when it comes in the explosive speed, and explosive power departments. There is not one iota of comparison here, especially in the area of punching power. Anyone who is not blinded by groundless fanaticism can see than Haye has superior speed, power, head movement, and all around
    athletic attributes.

In spite of all these things, Wlad shut him out completely for 12 straight rounds in a one sided clinic. Haye had no answer for Wlad's size and superb craftsmanship
    in the ring.

Ali's got a speed advantage, but people seem to be forgetting Wlad's timing (along with size and excellent speed himself) make him kryptonite for speedy fighters.

Of course Ali's a cut above what Wlad's faced, but it's not like this is a stylistic disadvantage for Wlad by any stretch. We know the styles of fighters that can give Wlad issues stylistically, and that's not what Ali brings to the table. Nobody's pretending Wlad fights like Joe Frazier - Wlad's bigger, stronger, faster, hits harder, and is more skilled, but doesn't fight like Joe. Let's not pretend Ali's somehow going to morph into Corrie Sanders or that using fighters who fight nothing like Muhammad as a template is any kind of indication of how Ali would handle the fight.

Chris Byrd also accomplished way more than Sanders did at Heavyweight. How'd he do vs Wlad?

Ali's not a southpaw, and he's got more size, speed and power than Byrd did.

  12. I don't want to acknowledge his 'fastest HW ever' speed because it's simply not there. It's a fairy tale concocted by Ali, which is blindly passed down by his
    dead beat fan base.

Tyson had better hand speed than Ali, and so did Roy Jones.

the guy who stopped Vits in spite of starting at MW? He did very well for himself considering a disadvantage in natural body weight of four weight classes. how is this a point about HW Ali? furthermore how does it do anything less than devaluate the Klitschko monopoly on title?

honestly could never see Ali even considering facing anyone as low down as corrie or a former MW.

My point is that styles make fights. Someone's absolute level of accomplishment doesn't necessarily dictate how they'll do against certain guys.

Using the success of guys who fight nothing like Ali as proof of what Ali would do against Wlad makes doesn't make much sense. Likewise, it wouldn't make much sense using Frazier's success against Ali as an indicator of what Wlad would do against him despite Wlad bringing more tools to the table, either- they fight nothing alike.

Wlad's never fought someone as good as Ali, but the faster fighters Wlad has fought have been his easiest fights. This isn't a fight Muhammad holds the stylistic advantage in.

perhaps, but we shouldnt be talking about your brain size here.

Tyson was not a faster HW than ali.

roy jones is a natural mw.

I don't know why you are bothering.
