The Ali family issued a statement Thursday through its official spokesman, Bob Gunnell. He said Ali wishes both fighters luck but that he doesnt have a favorite. A recent quote by Alis daughter, Rasheda Ali, went viral on the internet when she allegedly told TMZ that My dad really likes Manny. Hes a huge fan of his. He is Team Pacquiao. The family statement said that - Muhammad never offered to anyone his prediction and information that was published earlier this week and picked up by other media is either a misquote or someone elses personal opinion. The stories saying that Muhammad Ali has chosen a favorite in the fight are false. The statement added - Muhammad has the utmost respect for both fighters who will undoubtedly give boxing fans an incredible match. He believes the significance of this fight will rival other historic matches. Muhammad Ali will join the rest of the world on May 2 to watch this match-up.
Always good to hear some news about Ali, no matter how small and mundane they may be. A true living legend from an era of the sport where the word "Champion" had a completely different meaning.
hate to clear the air but ali wouldn't have the slightest clue who he wanted to pick if he even wanted to make a pick subconsciously
Youre one sick puppy that's for sure Talking of memory Floyd swears he didn't say " Yes Manny Pacquaio you're next" even after they showed him the tapeatsch
You clowns dissing Ali are a sample of whats wrong in boxing. You try to insult the greatest boxer ever. Ali is The Greatest both in & Out of the ring. If you idiots had a clue about boxing you would appreciate him the way I do
The guys a total *****. It's exactly the type of comment I'd expect him to make. How he's not permabanned is beyond me.
According to the scene Rasheda Ali stands by her statement that Muhammad Ali is cheering for Pacquaio (the article never said Ali thinks Pac will win). Apparently Ali's wife is trying to avoid any feelings getting hurt that's why their lawyers sent out a statement saying that he was neutral. I wouldn't be surprised if there are those out there that expect Ali to cheer for Floyd because he's 1. black and 2. american and might feel offended he on Manny's side. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter who cheers for who because there will only be 2 men in the ring and I just hope we get a great match that is worthy of its hype
Imagine if Ali said he was rooting for Floyd. You think that what Plank and Double said was harsh. Believe me, a lot worse would be said about Ali. But life tends to turn full circle on those types of individuals.
i don't think he is capable of having an opinion at this point in his life. he clearly has severe brain damage.
