I agree,John. This is obviously the thoughts of the man, genuine or otherwise, and not something that Ali spoke,or would speak, out loud.

As I said on an earlier thread,if Pepe had an agenda against the guy in your avatar like he does with Ali,he'd say that Ernie only lasted as long as he did against Two Ton Ted from Teddington, because Sue the widow from number 22 liked cocoa !!

Eddie Futch would have told Norton to come out for the final round with all guns blazing, had he still been Ken's cornerman.

Mark Grogin put the respone from Muhammad Ali in his own words (writing).

This interview was to be released in Sport Illustrated in a November 1976 issue,
but was not inserted in the magazine by the Editor. It was to be released in a
    later issue.

Load of crap just as I originally thought. Don't know why anyone would hate anyone enough to publish false information. Ali is rated either 1 or 2 all time hwt champion.....live with it.

    Muhammad Ali,

'If I fight again, I would probably have to fight Kenny, to put to rest
the questions. But, though I would like to get $10,000,000 for that fight,
I'm not sure anyone will put up that kind of money. I'm not going to fight
him for anything less. He said he wants a 50/50 split on the purse, but I'm
the Champion, and I have to get more.'

'I guess that means I'm pricing myself out of a 4th fight with Kenny. Look, I
thought the Yankee Stadium fight would sell out, but I'm told only 25,000 or
so showed up. Is that my fault or Kenny's fault, or both our fault. Maybe
we aren't as big as we think we are.'

If your going to make things up you should at least get something right. Millions watched that fight via PPV. 1976 were tough economic times especially in NY and that was the reason the stadium was not full.

The answer is Muhammed Ali is a ****. A fraud rated so high only due to his status and highly questionable decisions than his actual record:good

I thought there would be a level of expertise on these boards but unfortunately they are populated by few who have a clue.

    Houdini,

    I live in New York.

The economic strife did not effect the turn out of 27,000 or so estimated attendance.

The New York Police were 'On Strike', and nobody wanted to go Yankeee Stadium and
get mugged, or park their car in the Bronx.

    That is a fact.......:deal
