Yes, only he could make it seem that way. What a great man he was.

Mattheus marked him out the game in the final, pity he needed his team mates to get him out of trouble when it mattered most.

Holland were extremely unfortunate to play the hosts in both their world cup final appearances. They should have won for definite in 74, 5 or 6 teams could have won it in 1978.

Mattheus was a great player too, but he couldn't contain Maradona himself, Germany had him double marked. Maradona, like all greats is entitled to an off day, but even on an off day he was able to set up the winning goal for Burruchaga.:yep

An off day in the biggest game of his life. Yeah, Burrachaga's goal was on a plate- he only had to tap it in. :good

Yes exactly, thats the measure of the greatest most talented player ever to walk the earth. Maradona, having an off day in the biggest game of his life was still able to impose himself and lead his team to victory.

But a one-man team doesn't need 3 other players to score for him. :good

Yeah, but Chuvalo was already in good shape. Ali only trained for 17 days.

Some sad **** anyway. I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with not liking the England team if you hate some of the players/staff (I didn't really want Beckham or Erickson to lift the cup to be honest) but to have great joy at their losses, and get pissed off at one before he was probably born. :huh
