In my opinion, Foreman coming back to regain the HW title 20 years later puts some perspective on it.. Yes, it was one of the single greatest wins of all time.

How does Barrera-Hamed or Chavez-Taylor stack up against what has been mentioned so far?

One was an unexpected schooling and the other was an amazing mid fight adjustment to come from behind and get the win.

They don't stack up in terms of being the single greatest win of all times-but they were great wins. There are a many many fights like those 2 throughout boxing history. Duran Leonard when Duran won was an upset, but when you look at it, while Leonard was a full fledged ww, Duran was 72-1 going into that fight and the more experienced fighter. Ali was 32 dealing with a 24 year old Foreman who crushed Ali's rivals in 2 rounds, and crushed everyone in his path.

Douglass Tyson was the biggest upset in terms of odds, but IMO, anyone who saw Buster fight saw that he could do what he did if he put it all together for one fight. The talent was there. The will consistently wasn't. He gave Tony Tucker a good fight before being stopped.

Leonard beating Hagler was big also but Hagler wasn't the killer at 32 that he was at 27. But Leonard was out of boxing and came back for that one fight and won unexpectedly.

Ali Foreman was the single greatest win to me but that's just my opinion lol.

It ranks up there with the biggest upsets in boxing history, but it's probably on a level with Cotto knocking out Martinez, Douglas knocking out Tyson. Upsets happen with surprising regularity Rahman vs Lewis, Randall vs Chavez Sr, Foreman vs Moorer. There's a place to pause. Was Ali knocking out Foreman more impressive than Foreman knocking out Moorer?

Other unlikely events include Glen Johnson vs Roy Jones Jr, Phillips vs Tszyu, Raheem vs Morales, and Backus vs Napoles.

I and a lot of other people didn't factor in Martinez' previous knee injury and gave Cotto as much chance in their fight as people gave Khan in his recent bout against Canelo. It was also pretty shocking when Klitschko got knocked out against Brewster, although the red flags were there ahead of time for the few people who knew to look for them.

I think it is when you look at it as a whole. Where it was based, the world wide attention, the event. The fact Ali did the impossible and how much the people of the whole world were hoping he could do it. I remember the whole of Britain were with Ali. When he did it the reality was unbelievable. As a world wide event that had been hyped for that long then for Ali to deliver was unreal. The fact of the actual fight and elements around foreman's performance, that's just part of it. Mythical fight, so many stories, elements involved and what it did for Ali legacy? When we were kings was a great documentary on this fight.

Watch "When we were Kings" its a whole film about the Rumble in the Jungle and it sums up the time, era and feeling of this fight, probably one of the best boxing films ever. There was just no way that Ali was going to win that fight but he did and thats why he is considered the greatest partly because of this battle.

Yes it was a memorable fight & one of the greatest fight in boxing history. Hard puncher Foreman had to surrender his classic fighting skills against the defense master-man M.Ali.

Well, take into account this: Foreman would 20 years AFTER losing to Ali, would not just regain the HW title, but also extend another ATG in his PRIME - Holyfield, the full 12. Just to put into perspective Ali's achievement, in beating a prime Foreman, and to appreciate just to what extent the odds were against him.
