How so? Frazier had beaten Ali, the Greatest and rather easily too. Then Foreman knocks him down 5 times in 2 rounds for the KO.

And then the faded, slowed down version of the same greatest steps in the ring with the monster who smashed the guy who beat him, overcomes the odds, knocks him out and regains the title for the 3rd time. Again, you're confusing a "great win" with a "great performance".

Ali's own skills (at that time) are irrelevant to the skills and challenge to Foreman.

I just believe that Foreman easily beating Frazier who was coming off a win over Ali is a greater win.

It is very much relevant, in fact the circumctances going into the Foreman fight is a big part of Ali's greatness.

    Agree to disagree.

Duran-Leonard would have to be way up there too.

Very good win for Cotto, but not on the level of Ali-Foreman.

Let's not forget Kimbo-Tilyard, that was a masterclass by Mr. Slice.

It probably is because it was like a real life fairytale with Ali, the greatest of all time, coming back after all those years after having the title unjustly taken from him to regain it in his spiritual homeland of Africa, and against a young and seemingly invincible monster against whom almost no-one gave Ali a chance of winning (in fact many thought George would possibly seriously hurt or even kill Ali). It also cemented Ali's legend and, dare I say it, ended up making Foreman a better man also.

This seems like the greatest one to me also. Although no video footage exists of it, I'd say Greb vs Tunney would also be in the running.

Ali-Foreman is not too far behind though. Especially given how no one thought an aging Muhammad had a chance in that matchup.

Ali is only the greatest in his own mind. Frazier already kicked his ass like a redheaded stepchild.

    Ray Robinson is the greatest.

And Foremans victory over Frazier is the better win as well.

Also have to seriously think about Hagler Hearns. Jones Toney. Duran Leonard. Pacquiao Barrera. Theres other fights in modern times alone.

Schmeling vs Louis may be the greatest win. Brilliant game plan against maybe the greatest heavyweight of all time. Louis would retire at 60-1 before his comeback and his only loss was a decisive pounding from Max.

No its not and I rate both Lennox Lewis and Wlad Klitscko above Ali in the ATG rankings.

For what it is worth Foreman is saying while he acted like it he didn't want Ali again.

It's in the pantheon, my choice is the Fight of the Century.

    I would also submit:
    Clay vs Liston
    Duran vs Leonard
    Basilio vs Robinson
