Ali V Holmes was one of the hardest things I have had to watch....Holmes seemed to take credit for beating this ATG....but you could see Ali was a shadow of his old self..and Parkinsons disease had already taken hold...here is the Video and warning this always leaves a lump in my throat.!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojBJ9pfFwXs

I don't think Holmes enjoyed the experience all that much. He, too, was in tears following the fight.

I met Ali in New Orleans right after the second Spinks fight. It was an off night in a restaurant and the owner came up to me and my date and asked us if we wanted to meet Ali. I told the owner to get out of here but he was serious. He took us into the bar area and there was Ali, Veronica Porsche and a bodyguard and no one else. We spoke to Ali for about fifteen minutes and he was very thoughtful and soft-spoken. By the way, his wife was absolutely stunning. I probably looked at her more than I looked at Ali. lol He came across to me as a very classy individual.

Very nice. It is just to bad he didn't hang em up after beating Foreman.

Well, first Norton then Fraizer, now I guess it is the turn of the Greatest. We all get there sooner or later.

I agree with you but as for the womanising - what young man wouldn't do the same in his position?

    Agreed 100%.

I've got no qualms with those who say the good outweighed the bad, but to pretend the negative sides never existed at all is unbalanced, unfair, and unethical.

Truth is Ali the man has blurred so much into Ali the myth that it's impossible to deconstruct the myth without making it seem like you're attacking the man. And, whether you're a fan of Ali or not, that's just damn good marketing of his persona.

Not many people know this, but Ali has sold his image and everything associated with it to a firm, in exchange for a yearly allowance.

He had to do it because most of his money was gone.

So all the marketing hoopla people constantly see in the medias is not directly coming from him.

True. He sold off 80% of his name/likeness for $50 million up front to the firm (CKX) that also owns Jack Dempsey's and Joe Louis' likeness (as well as Elvis Presley and other entertainers).

The biggest difference, of course, being that those purchases are generally made once the performer is already passed on and the dealings are with the estate. It's less common, though not unheard of, for deals like that to happen while the celebrity is still alive.

The greatest moment of my life, next to the births of my two daughters, was meeting my idol Muhammad Ali & shaking his hand for the first time. Ali came in & the arena went silent the the chants of Ali! Ali !! Ali !!! started.
He smiled & said " Did someone famous come in here "?
I wish him God Speed He'll always be in my prayers He truly is

    THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One good thing I can say about Larry Holmes is he didn't take it easy on ali and beat his face into a pulp, good for larry. Too bad he didn't K.O him cold.

True story: One time when ali was beating the **** out of his wife for wearing too much make up, SRR (another wife beater) kindly asked ali to stop and ali said "ray you're just a middle weight, ill whoop your ass too"

    Ali the "legend"
