Gassiev is a good bit bigger than Ali and he punches a hell of a lot harder. Briedis is shorter but certainly stockier, in fact most of Usyk's competition so far has been in and around Ali's size. Ali was really a pumped up cruiser and he wouldn't hang with the modern big boys nearly as well as some would think.
Dude he's ****ing white as hell and he's a longtime boxer, you expect the marks not to show after a fight? He was barely touched, that doesn't signify anything about how hurt he was, never seen a bruise be the measure of concussion.
Getting caught and marked up by not only a journeyman's journeyman but one who did not train. I think Usyk is a skilled boxer, but watch what Dillian Whyte did to Parker. Being fancy won't save you from a physical fight.
If you think Usyk can't fight in a physical battle then you haven't watched enough of him. He's a very tough *******, extremely hard to hurt.
Some people just do, it's actually common enough with fairer skinned people, so northwestern and eastern Europeans are the biggest culprits of easy bruising. Anyone who doesn't know this basic biological fact instinctually at this point... They're beyond hope or help.
Totally. Its a bit thick for people to say lets see what he does at heavy before matching him against Ali...One plum is that confused he actually thinks its disrespectful to start a thread about it. That's the problem, its like Ali's almost too good to fight, like hes some God that shouldn't be challenged.
Usyk was being outboxed by Tony Bellew before he gassed but somehow he beats Muhammad Ali You’re going to feel very silly after Chisora ragdolls him.
.. Ali crossed eyed on the canvas after Henry's hammer clubbed him like a seal pup that needed euthanising #stayinsavelives
I think he was a skilled albeit somewhat limited fighter. Someone who never throws bodyshots is not a great "all round boxer" like Ali is made out to be in my opinion. Learn the value of a left hook to the liver and try to tell me how pointless it is again Muhammad while tons of boxers crumple another opponent with one.
I mean, he did the worst against Briedis, and Briedis is not a big fighter despite being the most physical. He's obviously not the best suited for that style. Not sure how he's going to avoid it with certain guys at this weight.
Briedis is a stocky ass dude though, dude is built like a tank (him vs Goulamirian would be interesting in terms of physicality). I wasn't surprised he made it tough for Usyk, he's the most likely candidate to at cruiser. On his day Briedis is a really class fighter as you probably well know.
Considering he had a jab that was regarded as one of the best ever, ive seen a lot of guys jab with him with success. I think it was Futch that said to Norton "Jab with him, you'll have success matching his jab"...A glaring problem of Ali's, especially in the 70's. Cooper, Bugner, Norton etc, just a few fights where good jabbers gave him problems.
