Peak Golota goes the distance in a tough fight. I don't think Ali could deter him and Golota with his head right would keep coming. He was a beast in Bowe 1. Ali pts win. Golota has enough to make this tough for Ali for a good few rounds and is physically stronger
Golota if he showed up might make things tough for Ali for maybe 5 or 6 rounds, but eventually he would mentally unravel..
Doesn't mean Golota couldn't cause him trouble provided he showed up... The question here isn't whether he wins or not(because OBVIOUSLY he doesn't) it's whether or not he shows up and puts on a good fight or has a mental breakdown from the get go. Golota was a very capable fighter, but he was just so mentally weak and unstable... Had chin issues too, but that probably wouldn't be as much of a problem against Ali.
Tough fight for Ali but Golota will always find a way to lose. I have been accused of being an Ali hater before on the forum when having opined that I feel he gets overrated due to his icon status. As impressive as his movement is I am left underwhelmed when I watch tape* as I don't see this untouchable skill set. Often I'll read about Ali being unbeatable in his prime and in hypothetical head-to-head match ups Ali is described as being un-hittable but when you actually watch his fights he gets lit up constantly (which explains why his chin and toughness are rated so highly). In reality even Ali's great achievements can't compare to the esteem his talents are held by supporters, he struggled in many fights, got hit and even hurt often. Ali was truly great, probably the greatest ever but not quite as great, at least in a h2h sense, as is often claimed by some of his many fans. *If anyone thinks there is a particular round or fight of Ali/Clay I should take a closer look at which best displays him operating at a level that would make me reconsider this whole 'Ali is overrated' thing it would be appreciated.
