    Yeah, I Foster said somewhere (might have been Facing Ali) that his corner told him to stay down after the final knockdown to avoid unnecessary damage. A wise choice. His legs were gone and had already landed his best shot without much effect, so there was no sense in continuing taking punishment.

    I didn’t know Foster said that. Great info. Thanks. Yeah, no point taking anymore - it was a forgone conclusion and Foster’s effort was already admirable.

    Imagine being the undisputed king of the light heavies and you're looking at the main prize (money and title) and the only 2 people in your way are called Ali and Frazier ??
    A little over a decade earlier before Liston got to Patterson he would have stood a chance against either Floyd or Johansson

    Maybe Quarry, Shavers, Lyle and Norton might have had something to say too, not to mention a young George Foreman
