    It wasn't luck what helped Muhammad throught his career , it was serial corruption .

    A 1977 Ali would have likely defeated Bobick who never fought competitively w anyone even close to that faded Ali ... while Ali's low punch output and limited punch would have not exploited Bobick like a fast starting and furious Norton, that Ali still had far more than enough to string Bobick out and stop him in the mid to late rounds ..

    Muhammad Ali knocking someone out in 1977,,,,,,,,,,

    Not with his diminished skills and injured fists.
    And Duane Bobick wasn't that bad of a fighter, despite what people think.

    Lets not forget, it was Muhammad Ali who pulled out of a fight with Duane Bobick,
    when he would have made a boat-load of money.

    And, he also pulled out of a fight with Lorenzo Zanon, because his group thought
    Zanon was too slick.

    Not saying that Bobick would have won, but styles make fights.

    Ali's hand injuries were under control post 74 ... they did not get worse ... he beat Frazier and Foreman ... R u implying Ali was at all afraid of Bobick ? I never heard of any serious negotiations for a Zanon fight either ...

    No, I'm not implying that Muhammad Ali was afraid of Duane Bobick,
    but it was Ali who pulled out of the proposed fight.

    As for Lorenzo Zanon, same thing. A signed contract, and again
    a change in plans.

    INteresting ... never heard this about Zanon ... as far as Bobick goes, I'm sure it is one of Ali's regrets ... taking on an undefeated Bobick who proved to be a second clas heavyweight was a big , easy payday for him to have missed out on ... likely far easier that Shavers or even Spinks ..

    Jet Magazine (May 19, 1977)

    Discusses Muhammad Ali and Lorenzo Zanon.

    They both signed tentative agreements in March 1977.
    After Zanon upset WBA #6 Alfredo Evangilista in February 1977.

    Lorenzo Zanon signed a tentative agreement, but Don King could not meet Zanon's
    financial requests.

    That match was cancelled, and Evangilista was slid in, when he agreed to the smaller fight purse.

    Mumammad Ali also had a tentative agreement with Mike Schutte
    for February 1977.

    Remember, Ali retired in October 1976, but un-retired and retired
    about a dozen times in late-1976 and early-1977......:deal
