Why is my scored card so off i try'd my best to score it fair i'm a huge ali fan he was 35 years old at the time of this fight against experienced 32 year old hard hitter KO artist not so young his self anyway here was my score card round by round where did i go wrong i'm new to this please state your opinion on what rounds u agree or disagree i want to know i get into more detail round by round as the fight goes on RD 1 to (Ali) but Shavers did hit him with 2 great blows RD 2 to (Shavers) at first Ali was controlling then shavers hit him with a good left hand i thought his left hand shot was good but he hit him with a great right hand that u could see Ali was shook by and could have went down then he hit him with 2 more great right hands any other fighter wouldn't still be standing. RD 3 (Ali)Ali comes out dancing controls the round with his jab for the first 2 mins slows down a bit after that but starts to attack again for the last 20 seconds of the round. RD 4 (Shavers) Shavers takes round four for me he hit Ali with 2 great right hands Ali had about one flutter of good punches but in that round shavers was the more aggressive and in my opinion at least hit him with 2 great right hands. RD 5 (Ali) Ali takes this round came out dancing once again controlled all 3 mins with his jab shavers got a few body shots but Ali won his round easily by controlling it with his jab and flurry's of combinations in there no damage done to shaver but enough to clearly win the round. so after 5 rounds i have Ali winning 3 -2 RD 6 (Shavers) really poor round i give it to shavers cause he was the more aggressive fighter and landed the most but he also walked away when Ali was inviting him to lay into him if you think i'm wrong in this round please tell me i'm not saying i'm right who won this round ? RD 7 (Shavers) Hard round shavers dominated for maybe 1 min 30 seconds with 2 great right hands then Ali started to come back with a flutter of punches but nothing compared to shavers right hand and the last couple of seconds so i give this round to shavers cause he easily dominated at least the first 1 min 30 seconds along with his great right hooks RD 8 (Shavers) dont know about this round shavers was the more aggressive Ali bloced more of his attacks Ali landed a few punches so did shavers nothing special i might be wrong but i give this round to shavers for being more aggressive even though Ali blocked most of his blows but i don't see why i can give Ali the round for 1 flurry of punches RD 9 (Ali) cant really judge this round because in my Ali box set it starts at 2 mins 30 seconds into this round so for the last 1 min and 30 seconds Ali was the better fighter so for that reason i award this round to Ali but i did not see the full round so of course i may be wrong please fill me in i'm watching Muhammad Ali History box set 19 Disc box set RD 10 (Ali) for the first min Ali came out dancing controlled the fight shavers hit him with a good right in the last 2 mins but Ali also hit shavers with a good left hand in the last min of the round blood on the side of shavers nose. So after 10 rounds i have it 5 rounds each then again i did admit i was not sure if shavers won rounds 6 and 8 even though i never seen the full of round 9 i do believe Ali probably won that round so my score card could be 7 - 3 to Ali u decide they 2 rounds i was not sure on should they have went to Ali and after 10 round my score card should be 7 - 3 to Ali and not 5 rounds each like i have it right now. RD 11 (Ali) Ali controlled the full round landing combinations shavers landed nothing serious till the last minute when he landed 1 great right hand other than that Ali dodged everything shavers flung part from that great right hand RD 12 (Ali) 1st min Ali came out jabbing hit a few combinations second min shavers hit Ali with good right hand laid some good blows into him then Ali started to dance about near the end of the second minute Ali controlled the last minute with his jabs and combinations and footwork winning the round RD 13 (Shavers) Ali probably did control the first minute but shavers hit him with a great right in the first min then in the second minute he hit him with a even better right then the last minute was just nothing so that why a gave this round to shavers RD 14 (Shavers) Shavers he definitely dominated this round winning it easy Ali did go down i never seen no punch it was a slip so it was not a knocked down RD 15 (Shavers) Shavers dominated the full round part from maybe the last 40 seconds so at the end of the 15th round i had it Shavers winning 8 rounds and Ali winning 7 Rounds but there was 2 rounds that i was no sure of i choices to give them to shavers but they could of went to Ali so if they did go to Ali my score card would have been Ali Winning 9 rounds and Shavers winning 6 rounds so what do you think am in right with Ali winning 9 - 6 or was i well of lol next fights all be watching is Ali vs Spinks 1 Ali vs Spinks 2 then all stop putting my scorecard on this thread i do apologies i know there is a thread for scoring fight's but i thought i was so far off on the Ali and Shavers fight that i wanted peoples opinion on where i was wrong and right then after that i will only put my score cards of the 2 spinks fights on this thread then ill use the proper thread.
Are you watching with the volume on or off?Scoring a fight without the volume may be your problem..try watching without it.
I think he's suggesting that one can be influenced in their scoring by the announcers, and their description of the action. No sound, no bias........
This is an atrocious idea. You can't hear the punches go in. That's a huge clue as to what kind of punch a fighter has been hit with, enormous.
It will help you keep focus on the fight and what punches actually land and the reaction of the fighters as well,do your own punch count and watch which significant ones land...without volume its almost always a different fight...watch the larry holmes fight with the volume on then off,and you will see how lopsided holmes beats him for instance.:good
Sound effects don't win fights,if you cant see how a punch effected the other yourself without sound, why bother judging for yourself or have an opinion if that's what you rely on?:-(
Of course not, that's even more ridiculous. But hearing the punch go in is absolutely a part of judging the worth of that punch, and most of all those punches that occur behind the fighter - in other words, bodypunches you absolutely cannot see land. Of course, if you are the type of person so influenced by commentary as to reproduce the commentators card, not hearing the punches go in the lesser of two evils, but if you are not that type of person, turning the volume down is preposterous. And it's certainly not good advice to be giving somebody new to scoring fights.
Yeah great, good for you. But turning down the sound on fight films is a horrible idea, generally. If you're overly afflicted by commentary it's reasonable, but otherwise volume should be turned up, inarguably.
Absolutley not!Why do you think they have tasre tests blind folded or un marked products ?are you telling me if you have a commercial that promotes one over the other and watch it then do the taste test you are not influenced?Same difference. That's not even the point,i know what im talking about and almost always you get a different fight.Ive recently did that with the vitali /Lewis fight and only gave Lewis one round not twne should see the effect of a punch without sound.they simply lack the ability to correctly judge a fight anyway if that's the case.
As i recall a TV Experiment was conducted for this fight, this was the first time The Individual Judges Scorecards were Flashed up at the end of Each round, Crafty Angelo Dundee had a TV set in the dressing room and had a runner report to him the scoring round by round as the fight progressed, The Ali Camp knew all along that points were not the issue, Of course Earnie punching power was the main concern, and Ali did take some sickening Shots, but could Kid his way out of Trouble, Dr Ferdie Percheco Left the Ali camp after this fight not willing to be a party to the Delusion any more
This is absolutely untrue. A taste test is blindfold so you don't see "Coca-cola" written on a label. The problem is that hearing a punch go in is a part of judging that punch. When you do a blindfolded taste-test, it's because the only thing that matters in denoting what coke is best is the taste. Hearing a punch go in is absolutely a part of judging it, especially if it's unsighted or partially sighted. Because you want to insist you are right, you will continue to find new ways to deny this; unfortunately, it is inarguable. But, again, I'll add a single proviso - if you are unduly influenced by commentary, sound off may be better for you. If you are able to make your own mind up independent of what the commentator says, the sound should always be on. And up, loud. This indicates that you are easily persuaded by judges OR that hearing punches in that fight - a part of reality - favoured Lewis. It's unfortunately impossible for you tell which one of these is true.
This is correct and is a key aspect in appraising the fight. Ali knew that if he could avoid a KD in 14 and 15, he would win. So that's what he did.
