Why there was no rematch (I don't want to go into "conspiracy theory"), when Muhammad Ali was known for rematch and trilogy and had a score in rematch 11: 0? If there was a rematch to make it look like that? Your Opinions...
Ali was open to a rematch around 76', he gave his terms, but Foreman didn't agree to them and wanted his own terms. He tried to become a mandatory instead, becoming the one contender, it looked like a second fight was on its way..... insert Jimmy Young in a shocking loss, Foreman loses too Young to a decision, Foreman retires until 1987, and Ali continues the rest of his career, without a rematch with George Foreman.
The continuation of George Foreman's career after Zaire is a bit strange for me. 1975. no fighting 1976. 4 fights 4 wins and fighter of the year
They could have fought in 76. When Foreman beat Frazier in the rematch on June 15th 1976, Ali's last fight was on May 24th against Richard Dunn. This would have been the perfect set-up for a rematch - as both guys had beat Frazier back-to-back (Frazier fought Foreman after Thrilla in Manilla). Ali fought Norton for a 3rd time instead - making that the last fight he had in 76, while Foreman fought 2x more that year against fringe contenders Scott Ledoux & John "Dino" Denis.
Are you trolling or do you really believe the thing you wrote ?!? By 1976, Ali was on a downhill spiral. No way he manages to beat Foreman a second time.
Don King could not get the Ali camp to sign the fight. Prior to that, Foreman had Perenchio trying to get the Ali camp to sign the fight in 1975 and could not. Arum did not want the fight and selected his opponents for Muhammad instead. Arum promoted most of the Ali fights. Not King. Ali did things on a fight by fight basis. DKP only did Foreman/Wepner/Frazier 3. The Bugner rematch nobody wanted and the Inoki bout and the Dunn fight and so on was all Arum.
Foreman would of stopped Ali if they fought again which is why Ali did everything he could to avoided George. He realize he got lucky once but he wouldn't get lucky again.
Trainers like to get paid and feed their families. George took 15 months off after Ali. Layoffs don’t buy groceries.
I've seen more than one good poster who lived the time put forward that Ali's camp were not at all receptive to a Foreman rematch. It's entirely possible. It makes me wonder if getting past Foreman was a whole lot more grueling than it seemed.
