Much would depent upon what strategy Johnson employed. Ali had a few technical shortcomings that he normaly got away with, but which a fighter like Johnson might find a way to exploit. The real question here is whether Johnson is the man with the plan here.
Ali takes a decision his speed is the decisive factor,he would not land much but Johnson's flat footed ," wait for them to come in " stance would work against him here, imo. Johnson shone against come forward types , not elusive mobile ones. Here ,he is out sped , out reached, and ultimately, outpointed.
i have an ali magazaine that was a ring magazine special where he was pitted against all the great champions. i cant remember who wrote it but they said that ali and johnson would draw if they fought personally its a different time and style of boxing but ali still wins
This is a matchup between Muhammad Ali and Jack Johnson. The number of rounds has not been specified. However if it was 20rds ,at the pace those fights were commonly fought Ali would have no trouble lasting the distance ,imo. Johnson was not exactly an all- action type of fighter.
That's the key. Honestly, I think Johnson would have a much easier time with the 70s version of Ali than the more mobile Ali of the 60s.
I wonder how Ali might defend the old 1-2. Not sure if his era has seen the punch. http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=SO00AAAAIBAJ&sjid=i-4HAAAAIBAJ&pg=7057,1593174&dq
I'd go with Ali. I do wonder, though, how the infighting would pan out. Johnson was a different kind of infighter -- he'd try to get control of Ali's arms, then go to work with short punches.
The fight would have had to be held in Havana, Cuba And a co-promotion by Hyman Roth and the Corleone Family, with the Lakewood Road boys providing on-site services. The hotels are 'swankier' there. Moe Green would not be able to provide proper services, as he was 'bad luck'. This would be one bad fight..........Ali dancing,,,Jack stalking like a cautious Jaguar. 15-Rounds of utter boredom.
