I dont know. I dont recall that. The first fight would have been the one to dedicate to Johnson because he constantly drew comparisons to himself and Jack Johnson during the promotion, alluding to Johnson's own forced exile.

Watch the fights and see Ali fought like Ali in fight one. Something other than Ali in fight two.

You hit the nail on the head. Quarry's best chance to beat Ali was in the first fight, with Ali's ring rust, but he got cut. Jerry simply did not match up well with Ali and Frazier. Ali's size and style was all wrong for Quarry. As for Frazier, Quarry simply could not hurt Joe and Joe could easily hit Quarry. Plus Joe was naturally stronger than Quarry.

Ali would always have Quarry's number, just a poor style matchup for Jerry who was a counterpuncher who couldn't reach Ali enough to do any real damage. Ali fought behind his movement and his great jab and when you add Ali's height and reach advantage as well as his great chin, he has all the advantages against Jerry. Some fighters suited Quarry to a tee but Ali wasn't one of them.
