Ali modernized the heavyweight division, while Joe Louis represented one of the final phases of the old school. Louis would literally stand no chance. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's far better to pit fantasy fighters from pre-Ali against modern Cruiserweights and light-heavyweights than against modern heavyweights. So...Joe Louis vs. Michael Spinks.
Prime for Prime, Ali was just too damn smart. Plus he could take one hell of a punch if Louis landed one. I got Ali by 15 Rd UD. 10 rounds to 5.
joe louis vs muhammad ali i have thought that joe louises abilty to box and punch was unique to joe only...but his boxing stlye was only so he could open up and punish the guy....when he fought conn ,conn was far from a master boxer nor slick on his heels and was outboxing him with a horrible but still effective jab. until he started to trade with him. i think ali's style picks joe apart one punch at a time jabbing then coming back with a right hand. dancing around making joe miss. ali i feel isnt going down anytime soon nor is he going to go to war like conn did becuase thats not how he works. but can joe take ali's shots? i mean joe might not be weak chinned but he could be dropped and hurt by small men. and ali was a very uncredited puncher especially when he only went to the face never anything under the chin. ali ko wouldnt surprise me. which is a shame becuase joe was a great champion and a very formidable fighter and would beat around 90% of all fighters but ali he aint winning
I didn´t vote. And as I expected most posters pick Ali to win, but I am not really sure about that. If some like Doug Jones could give Ali trouble there´s no reason to believe some one like Louis wouldn´t. And maybe he could even win!
So Billy Conn and Ali should? Conn troubled Louis near his peak, at least Ali was on the way up when he fought Jones.
