Again, I think it's about 50-50%. Lewis had size, power, reach. Tyson has speed and power. If Tyson gets in he could probably win, if Lewis fights exactly the same way he did when he beat him, I think he beats him. That was tactically the perfect fight against Tyson. He bullied him, he punished him for trying to get in the inside, with upper cuts and he out muscled and intimidated him, and from the outside it's really no contest.

I think you make some valid points. Lewis seemed to fight only as hard as he wanted to; he did struggle with someone who was consistent in his attack. Mercer really gave him life and death in their fight, and you would have to note the trouble Mercer's jab gave him.

Was Ali the type of fighter to give Lewis work rate and pressure, though? Ali could coast at times, too. Maybe he would fight an "in and out" fight and give Lewis angles?

How would Ali cope with the range and jab of Lewis? I don't think he fought a giant with Lewis's skills and speed, or even close to it. I know Ali could adapt at his best, so I don't rule anything out, I just see it as a bad style for Ali to overcome.

That's just pure cheerleading. He certainly didn't do that against Ruddock, and I just watched it, and Lewis demolished Ruddock.

It would be a challenge for Ali and I agree it could go either way, but I guess most would favour Ali by decision.

Well since you're minds made up, probably years ago, there's no point discussing it. Too bad his ATG rating is lower than both Holyfield's and Lewis' cause he had the potential to be no worse than top 3.

i think Lewis would beat Ali by UD12. Sorry, i just think the extra height, reach and overall size would be difficult for Ali to overcome. That said i could see a close fight. One thing to remember is Lewis often fought just enough to win in my opinion. When challenged Lewis had a lot of extra intensity.

Look at the Vitali fight, Lewis gets caught being tentative in the early rounds and starts getting beaten up by a skilled big guy, things look bad for him as he is being beaten to the punch, he figures this out and then comes out and did to Vitali what nobody else did to Vitali, Chris Byrd didn't do to Vitali what Lewis did to him, Vitali was winning against Byrd. Lewis had a extra gear when he needed it. Lewis had excellent skills for a big man. His hand speed was in my opinion far better than most think and why? I think Lewis liked to use a relaxed lazy style because it is in many ways good to be relaxed in the ring to a degree, i think Lewis often was too relaxed and focused on pacing himself to the point whereby that extra ZING in his punches wasn't used because he often very much focused on pacing himself to the point that he more than other fighters would often hold more back. Mostly because he was so good he could get away with it.

Trying to knock a guy out using full power, timing and speed is HARD WORK and often can backfire if you get drained out before knocking your opponent out, thus i think Lewis from a early stage went the opposite route for the most part and focused on winning rounds. I think Lewis was cautious when it came to winding himself and thus often over paced himself.

I think Lewis's extra gear would of been a problem for Ali. I don't see Lewis knocking Ali out or vice versa.
