Ali was a huge man himself at 6'3" with an 80" reach ... the size difference would be similiar to Terrell except Lennox would be much heavier ...I like Ali because of his speed, jab and chin ... Lennox would have a very hard time connecting ... however he would be a tough opponent and dangerous as well ..

Depends. On how much and what type of bodyweight Ali gained. Overuse of ergogenic aids, supplements and size training would have put on extra bulk that would have not only cost him in terms of stamina but speed as well.

When I mean taking advantage of modern advances I am assuming that Ali and his handlers would have taken the intelligent route and gained only as much functional weight as would be possible.

Yes, I agree with you. This would be one awesome fighter.

Looks like you are unaware of what "magic modern sandwiches" can do.

If you read my post properly you will see that I never said that Ali would have turned into a big puncher. I only said that he would have much more power and strength.

As far as Ali's comment about lifting weights is concerned, remember that he was a product of the sixties. In those days, many sports coaches (not only in boxing) were unconvinced of the benefits of weight training and even thought that it would slow the fighter/athlete down by making him musclebound. Now all of them think very differently and almost every top athlete makes full use of weight training as it applies to his or her particular sport. I am certain that Ali, in the nineties, would have used weight training without questions as something already tried, tested and proven and used by most, if not all, of his peers.

He lifted weights before Manilla. It was Saddler's idea.

Holmes would have a better chance against a prime Ali than Lewis.

Like everybody on here I think Ali´s speed of hand and foot and his ability to impose his will would prevail here but I think Lewis has a shot. We don´t know how Ali would deal with Lewis´ size advantage. What of Lewis clinches Ali everytime he get´s near enough and leans on him. Could he tire him? Could Lewis time Ali´s moving in and out?

Ali would UD him pretty easily, I think.

Over 15 it might be a pseudo-blowout, with the two splitting the early rounds and Ali sweeping 7+

It's far from impossible, but unlikely IMO.

Lewis has a size advantage, but not enough of one to tip the action in his favour in my opinion. Ali certainly negated Terrell's height and reach advantages without much trouble. The extra weight would actually hinder Lewis as the rounds progressed.

I dunno, I'd like to make a strong argument for Lewis but I can't.

The Ali from the Cleveland Williams fight in '67 would probably beat any HW ever. Lewis has a good chance over 12, it's not out of the question he could nick a decision, but over 15, I feel Ali has too much.

It would be pretty even up till the latter stages, but Ali could probably nick all of the championship rounds and therefore come out with a clear UD. I'd take him 10-5/9-6 over 15.

I agree with this. Ali by decision. I also agree with those who say Lewis get probably beat the 70's Ali.

Terrell is no Lewis, especially when it comes to using size.

I will be the first Lewis supporter to say that Ali probably beats him over 15, but i've always considered the Terrel argument rather poor. Other than being tall, he has nothing in common with Lewis. Being 30 lbs lighter, he's almost skinny compared to Lewis, his punching power is nothing special as is his footwork, and he doesn't seem to use his size. I guess that eye took him out of the fight, but he showed very little during his fight with Ali.
