In a battle of two heavyweight greats, who wins prime for prime? (Ali pre prison)

Prime Ali would make Lennox look like a statue.

I don't think Ali can stop him, but prime, pre-exile Ali beats him up. Really badly.

I think Lewis wins this very easily. Part of the problem with these fantasy match ups is that one boxer usually has the advantage of knowing a lot about the other fighter. The other problem is that Ali never faced an opponent of Lewis' size and his other physical attributes. Chuck Wepner was about the same size, but much slower and nowhere near as skillful. Cleveland Williams never fully recovered from being shot and almost killed. Muhammad Ali simply wasn't big enough to compete with the very best of the really big heavyweights of the past 30 years.

I am not so sure, Sir, I am not so sure... We never saw Ali vs. a full sized elite superheavyweight. In 95 % of all cases, the good big man always wins over the good little man.

That's a fair point but Bugner and Terrell were big boys, maybe not SWHS and not on Lennox's level, and Ali had no problem with them. I would add Ali feasted on stand tall orthodox boxers.

in 10 fights ali gets clipped once, maybe twice.

boxes lennox up in the rest. handspeed is 3-1, movement is 5-1.

Lewis coudn't dominate shop worn well past prime Holyfield in two fights
and twenty-four total rounds but he
easily beats Ali? Prime Ali, or Ali of the Spinks fight?

I see a prime Manny-led Lewis bullying and possibly stopping a pre-exile Ali, at least winning a close decision. Post-exile Ali could lure him into a trap, possibly drop him and take the points win.

Can’t think of a worse match up for Ali. All the issues he had with Norton would’ve been amplified by a much, much better boxer who was much bigger and understood what he was doing. I think Ali would be stopped.

Ali is not stopping Lewis, but I am confident he manages to stay clear and win a clear decision.
