Senor Pepe and Burt have the most interesting side stories about boxing, new stuff that hasn't been seen dozens of times as with almost all the other postings. I've read just about every magazine addition and clipping one could find over half a century and its rare to find anything not rehashed, they both could have written in the old Ring magazine and I would have read every article.

    Much Appreciated Timmer.............

    Scott LeDoux,

Did not want to fight Muhammad Ali, as he felt it would have been
    a 'Sympathy Fight'.

Scott LeDoux, 'It makes no sense. I could use the money, but what
will they say when I beat him. I would have beaten an old man, and
if God Forbid I hurt him, it will follow me forever. No, I won't do it.'

Well in Pepe's case there's a certain amount of economy with the truth, apart from his obvious disdain for Ali.

'Muhammad Ali Training To Fight Somebody'

It looks like the former Heavyweight Champion is in training at his
Deer Lake Pennsylvania Training Camp preparing to fight the 'Invisible Man'.

His first opponent, Willie 'The Cannon' Shannon got knocked out in
a 'test bout' in April, ending that proposed bout.

Minnesota Heavyweight - Scott LeDoux has now signed to fight
WBC Champion - Larry Holmes for a July Championship Bout.

WBA Champion - Mike Weaver has an agreement to fight South African
Gerrie Coetzee, and may make an 'interim defense' versus Eddie 'The Animal' Lopez in August.

All '3' of Muhammad's proposed opponents - a) Willie Shannon, b) Scott LeDoux and
    c) Eddie Lopez are now all 'off the board'.

Some have suggested, Dwain U.S. Bonds as the next 'opponent', as he is
the one that 'knocked out' undefeated Willie 'The Cannon' Shannon, which
ruined the former Champions's comeback return bout.

Ali was totally shot by then.

LeDoux would have been a competitive opponent for him in 1980.

It was smart not to take a tune up and risk the Holmes payday.

Pepe provided links (sometimes). But they can't be opened so who knows if these quotes are accurate.

75% bull****, 12.5% embellishment, 12.5% truth. It was always funny when people would praise this lying moron saying "gee, youve found stuff Ive never seen before and Ive followed the sport for 30 years." Yeah. Theres a reason youve never seen this **** before. Its because this idiot made it up and peppered it with just enough fact to make it somewhat believable.
