Muhammed Ali vs Wladimir Klitchsko - 12 Rounds No Decision

Who has the better chin? I think we all know the answer to that one don't we. While this wouldn't be a walk in the park for Ali, I still see him winning here. I respect Vlad. He's a gentleman and a credit to the sport. For a man his size he shows better than average skill and speed plus he can punch. With that being said he would be going up against arguably the greatest HW champion of all time and let's be honest, Vlad hasn't met anyone remotely close to a prime Ali yet. None of his opponenets to date compare to Ali in speed, ability, stamina and will to win tho that's not Vlads fault. Ali on the other hand has met some of the hardest punchers in the divisions history and beaten them all. Why? Because he has one of the best chins...if not the best chin in the divisions history. Sure he was dropped but never stopped at his best and this is why I feel he would beat Vlad. Combine this with his handspeed and I see a win for Ali. Vlad has a potent right hand but it's the left hook that Ali was most susceptible to being hit with, especially in close ala Joe Frazier...who was NOT feather fisted by the way. What i see happening is Ali's sneaky right lead finding a home as the fight wears on. When it does Vlad increasingly becomes gun shy and Ali smells blood and if I'm right the fight's over from that point on. Boxing is all about styles and Ali I feel would be have an advantage here. Ali by decision or late round stoppage.

 

I guess I got carried away and forgot your stipulation Boilermaker. Taking that into account the fight could be very intertesting in that both fighters would have to change their approach to the match. While that would enhance Vlads chances it may also be his undoing in that he would have to engage Ali instead of opting to box from the outside and attempting to land his bombs while staying out of harms way. This nullifies his height advantage due to the fact that he has to get close...and often in order to go for the knockout. Given Ali's advantage in handspeed that might be a problem for Vlad...or a blessing in disguise. I can't really say. If i had to bet my life savings on the outcome I'd still go with Ali...Though I'd be praying to St. Jude the whole time.

 

Compared to Wlad, Frazier is feather fisted.

Wlad would come in enourmously obese and take the fight to Ali. He would slug it out and Ali would stand his ground in the middle of the ring. After 30 seconds to the 2nd round Emmanuel Steward in Wlad's corner would yell out "schmagida gugu" and Ali's head would explode.

My take. 1960's Ali up to his exile would win a clear wide UD against both Wlad and Vitali.

The version that fought Frazier, Norton, and Foreman probably has a little more trouble but still has more than enough hand speed and foot speed to out hit Wlad and Vitali.

The only Ali that I would bet against him vs the Klitschkos would be the one who fought Spinks, Berbick and Holmes.

I urge those who believe differently of Frazier's power should go seriously talk to George Chuvalo and also in a sense the only man who thrashed him twice, George Foreman. Both Georges will tell you that Frazier wasn't featherfisted. Ali will even tell you that Joe's right hand aside from his left hook was a hard punch too.

This must be a joke. Ali would play with him. Klitschko is limited and would not be able to catch the fastest heavyweight of all time. There is a bigger chance that Mr bean would beat Floyd Mayweather.
If we then talk Ali in his prime it is even worse. That would be a masacre and a stoppage witrhin 4 rounds. Klitschko cut to pieces.
Also, don´t compare Klitschko with Fraizer, that is a disgrace. A true legend compared to a limited HW that manage to throw 1-2 and then some slow jabs and with no defense against anyone who put together more then 2 punches.

 

Wlad would be forced to take chances in order to have any hope of stopping Ali, and Ali would capitalise on every chance Wlad took and eventually take him out comfortably.

 

Ali would take it without a doubt.

 

It would end up being a 12 round no decision....

 

The other point to consider is Prime Ali was trained to punch and move for 15 rounds. Going 12 would be nothing for him which means an even higher potential punch rate per round. Wlad would be hit with so many blows there is no way he could last 12 rounds. The damage to Wlads face would be enormous and with his track record the bet here is he does not come out for the eighth round in a horrible mismatch.
